@UnlawfulSpoon80 Aphrodite tends to be depicted nude as she is the goddess of sex (among other things), Ares is often nude with her because she disarms him, this is why you can see the erotes behind/having removed his shield.

Ancient Rome did not utilize the “Roman Salute”, however, such a pose was a subject of later paintings and statues—the arm being extended at shoulder level, not over the chest, with a bender elbow typically present. The Nazi party adopted this salute and straightened the arm +.

@Kusajishi_1 They are only siblings in according to Homer, according to Hesiod they are not related. The “cherubs” are erotes, little daimons of love and lust and the like, they are watching because it’s a romantic scene and thus their domain, similar to how ‘Cupid’ shows up in Roman art.

It is a very important story about consent in marriages, and how you cannot restrain or stop love- even forbidden. What modern audiences tend to do is entirely disregard the entire topic of consent in the myth out of sympathy for Hephaestus.
