Women are expected to be responsible for so much. Not only is it our job to have children before a specific time because of biology and because of societal pressures. We are also expected to ensure that the man we meet will be a good father as if people don’t change
Caribbean governments keep asking for an increase in the birth rate without doing anything to address concerns regarding cost of living, quality of life and childcare which predominantly affects the earning potential of women.
BFFR.
Having children will not heal your childhood trauma. Therapy will. Children are not the answer to your loneliness or lack of fulfillment. Children are not substitutes for friends and romantic partners.

Feeling anxiousness is a normal emotion because a situation may make you experience anxiety. Others have anxiety that may cripple their ability to perform tasks. It can be consistent or people may have episodes and it doesn’t necessarily happen because of one thing.
People keep asking Caribbean people to make space for the diaspora and that’s not an issue. Most Caribbean people have family and friends in the diaspora. The issue is when the diaspora seeks to invalidate the experiences of those who are born and raised in the Caribbean.
Trivia time: Which country in 2024, after 260+ years of independence is still dealing with challenges to water, education, social services, justice, democracy while race still plays a major role in access to basic amenities?
People in glass houses should shine them and be quiet.
The Caribbean countries just got their independence some less than 100 years ago and they’re still dealing with problems in education and health care system. Just say you like warm weather.
It is time that the University of the West Indies facilitates child care services on campus for students and faculty. We are aware of the number of single mothers in the Caribbean and the importance of child care. Why isn’t there a nursery on campus?
The idea that the Caribbean does not offer world class tertiary level education is crazy to me. The University of the West Indies continues to produce global scholars that work across the globe.
Maybe if you were educated here you wouldn’t have tweeted this crap.

When an establishment in Barbados tells me that white locals have the money and that’s why I might be told the club is full but white locals will get in because they are VIP and they have the money….
That’s an establishment I never need to visit again.
Too many young men lost their virginity to sexually abuse and have not been allowed or encouraged to call it what it is. The normalization of sexual abuse of young men is as disconcerting as ignoring the widespread abuse of women.
Apparently when someone says, “You looking real small” you ABSOLUTELY should not say, “What is the secret to looking big like you?” Is not the right answer 😭
There is no shame in loving someone with all that you are for a moment in time. There is no shame in break ups. Life goes on. There is no shame in heartbreak because love is courageous.
Let’s talk about CLICO and how many people lost their life savings. Let’s talk about how many people regret not buying the ticket, taking the trip, truly enjoying their life. How many people die in the process of waiting to live life.
All of this cannot be to dead.
Traveling is nice and all but all the money I see wanna splurging.
Try go get life insurance & invest in getting a house to come back to instead of sitting with nothing to your name from your last trip in ya mother house with no other achievements in life but a full passport book
Men should be gynecologists. Men should also be held accountable for sexual harassment and assault.
Excluding men from professions like gynecology is an indication that we expect and accept that sexually inappropriate behavior is simply their nature and I do not accept that.
Moreover how do you acknowledge your heritage, the birthplace of your parents and grandparents but fail to educate yourself? Caribbean culture is more than food, music and carnival. How do you claim the Caribbean but fail to understand what life is here actually is?
A former Minister charged and convicted of money laundering in a government that left Barbados with 6 weeks of foreign exchange cover is now a social commentator regarding government expenditure.
I cannot make this up
Every month an official from a Caribbean government laments about the cost of airfare and the effect on tourism and intraregional travel and I just want to know…
WHAT ARE WE THE CITIZENS SUPPOSED TO DO ABOUT IT?
WHO SUPPOSED TO CARRY IT DOWN?
ARE YALL NOT THE GOVERNMENT?
I wanted to stop by and remind y’all that Dunksman admitted to sexually abusing girls while he was a police offficer.
Pedophiles don’t rehabilitate. They just rebrand.
Caribbean people laughing at natural disasters in another Caribbean country will always be dunce to me. We are all one natural disaster away from requiring aid.
Black Barbadians have fought for years to make the smallest strides to heal from the trauma of colonialism and y’all on here arguing that black boys should cut their hair to be worthy of respect based on Europeanized standards of respectability.
Mek Bussa stupse.
Someone committing suicide doesn’t mean their friends and family failed and we need to stop pushing the narrative. People call and have conversations, the go out and socialize, they make plans and commit suicide. Sometimes nothing can change the outcome.
Translation: Physical abuse does nothing to children especially teenage girls whose confidence often requires external validation. Psychological abuse is much more effective, watch their spirit break.
Licks ain’t doin nain to the children especially teenage girls them does carry alot of pride …. Shame them and watch how them humble themself real quick!

I didn’t downplay the question. I found it disingenuous. Consent has always been framed as gender neutral. Women have been some of the loudest advocates in relation to addressing male harassment and assault.
Next question because the answer was obvious.
"Wunna" = You all (Bajan dialect) 🇧🇧
"Wanna" = Want to (informal English) 💬
Example 1: "Wunna wanna go to Oistins later for some fish and vibes?"
Example 2: “I ain want nuh fish from Oistins, I wanna guh Fresko”
Can you think of more examples?
The Ministry of Education should have placed restrictions on the kind of hairstyles which can be worn to school. Hairstyles may not hinder learning but people does take a 6 for 69.
I ain’t debating it either.
When you hear the horror stories from persons who work in the hotel sector you realize that the backbone of the economy is based on exploitation and the same structures of slavery.
Experiencing a culture second hand is not the same as it being your lives reality. We get the benefits of living in the Caribbean, the sense of ownership that comes from countries that are recognized as ours and the frustrations of coming from SIDS as well.
I’m very much a “I’m here if you want to talk or not talk” friend. I don’t like prying, I do not believe that my friends owe me information about their lives but if you want to talk, if you need someone. I’m here and if you don’t want to talk, you just want to exist…. I’m here.
Barbadian business owners spent all of Covid-19 complaining about the lockdown and the impact on business to retain the same hours they had during Covid because they want to maximize on profit and not pay workers for the time.
Unconditional love is a myth. Women do not receive unconditional love. Many women struggle through motherhood in silence because of this myth. Also why doesn’t being a parent come second nature to men?
If we decide that we cannot find a man we wish to father our children, society tells us our standards are too high or we are asking for too much. When the men who are expected to be good fathers don’t pan out, it must somehow be our fault.
Imagine I spend all my life at school, work hard, get good grades, make sacrifices only for people to get vex that I opt to send my child where I want to cause I could afford to do so….
Barbados is unserious when it comes with to sexual harassment and assault and y’all are playing in the faces of survivors while giving perpetrators a slap on the risk. A SEVEN YEAR OLD WAS SEXUALLY ABUSED BY A NEIGHBOUR.
Why would I want to be with someone who doesn’t do what they say they’re going to do? The older I get the more I want stability and consistency in a partner. I want to trust that I can depend on you. If that’s not the case what are we doing here?
He can’t remember all their names. HE. CANNOT. REMEMBER. THE. NAMES. OF ALL. THE. UNDERAGED. GIRLS. HE ABUSED. I want everyone to BE SO FUCKING REAL cause everybody got a past and him and his should be up at DODDS.
I ain’t understand one RSL.
If you claim to be Caribbean/ of Caribbean heritage, why is your first response to belittle, insult or denigrate practices that you do not understand or know of? All Caribbean people want is for you to get of the soapbox, rest, learn and enjoy.
Whenever we talk about a sex offenders registry people say “all the big names will be on it” and some of you will see your fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, boyfriends, best friends. What doesn’t hit home until it does is how prevalent sexual abuse is in Barbados.
Having to process a traumatic event while people use that trauma as their joke of the day is exceptionally difficult. Hoping that she is okay and well supported as she processes this.
Every time someone commits suicide it’s ‘check on your friends’ sometimes all the checking in the world doesn’t matter because we’ve all said, “I’m okay” when we are not. Let’s normalize seeking mental health support.
A lot of parents do next to nothing to assist their children’s educational journey and expect teachers to perform miracles. These same parents don’t come to meetings, don’t ensure that children do homework and provide no guidance or structure.
To see someone say jab jab “looks a little too close to devil worship” really demonstrates how we have failed to pass on stories of resistance and rebellion and how our cultural celebrations were celebrations of blackness and freedom.
Where is the outrage for men not being present or active in their children’s lives. Where are the male led conversations about how to be better fathers? How to navigate co-parenting in difficult situations?
Where y’all disdain and disgust got men who are bad fathers?
The Caribbean diaspora is welcome and has always been welcome to celebrate and showcase our culture. However, I. Me. ME. I will gatekeep Caribbean heritage and culture. Too much history, too much struggle, too much strength and resilience is sewn into the fabric of who we are.
A lot of people when they visit Caribbean countries don’t get the true culinary experience or are so picky that their food takes are limited. You came Barbados and ate Chefette and Mapps and that’s your standard. You went Guyana and everyday is roti and curry….
REST.
I don’t want NOBODY tell me about what it takes to put on a show. A lot of times patrons are made to feel like we being unreasonable or as if we have unrealistic expectations.
Promoters EXPECT premium ticket money and I EXPECT A PREMIUM EXPERIENCE.
Dear businesss owners,
As we approach October which is breast cancer awareness month, please note that if you are going to change your logo to pink and have a “pink” sale etc. Donating a portion of the funds to support breast cancer survivors/ research is the honest thing to do.
To act as if Caribbean people simply dislike and seek to exclude the diaspora is disingenuous. How many “Diaspora influencers” have been welcomed to showcase our culture only to insult it or demonstrate they care nothing for it beyond its monetary value?
Being a nice or decent person doesn’t mean the person you want, wants you.
I wish men would stop acting as though women were a reward for being a good person.
If Barbados has a sex offenders registry a lot of people would have to come to terms with the fact that their family members and friends aren’t good people.
On this Father's Day, we hold space for those estranged from their fathers, those who've lost their dads, those facing difficult relationships, fathers who've lost children, and for those for whom today may be a difficult day. Sending love and strength to everyone today. 💕💕💕💕
No one teaches you how to deal with grief. They just tell you it gets better. It doesn’t. It gets easier but somedays you wake up and grief sits with you and holds your hand on other days it sneaks up and weighs you down without warning and you just have to figure it out.
People who are born and raised in the Caribbean are expected to be understand, make space for, tolerate, accept, integrate, educate and accommodate members of the diaspora. Without regard for what that means for the Caribbean identity and who we are as a region.
There has to be a way that women can be captured enjoying themselves at jouverts/events without attempting to take a video of their reproductive organs.
I refuse to accept that is the only way videographers can appeal to audiences. Just getting to live out their perversions.
Everytime I see a man on here say something like, “if he was attractive it wouldn’t be harassment” or “one man harassment is another man trying” I know that if they shake their head, it would rattle like tic tacs.
Harassment is literally UNWANTED/ UNWELCOMED attention/contact.
A lot of people go into companies excited and ready to make an impact but y’all treat people so badly, 6 months in and they don’t even want to be in the office, so imagine smiling at a customer.
The driver of a PSV was caught on camera driving in the wrong lane into oncoming traffic endangering lives and you in the comments talking about, “he who is without sin cast the first stone”.
I want yall to be sensible and for real.
Unpopular Opinion: There should be no private jumps the same competing with Foreday.
As this is my opinion and one I acknowledge is unpopular I won’t be debating.
If one man calls a woman “a slut” or accuses her of sexual promiscuity it is taken as fact. If one woman makes sexual assault allegation everyone becomes a detective because it has to be validated in the court of public opinion.
