The time between finishing work and starting non-work activities or rest is more important than we think. Without a clear transition, work can linger in our minds long after we’ve logged off. Emails, unfinished tasks, and tomorrow’s to-do list follow us into the evening, making it harder to switch off. A shutdown ritual helps mark the end of work and the start of everything else. It doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to be intentional. Here are some ideas: • Complete a short checklist—clear your workspace, review the day, and check tomorrow’s calendar. • Take a "fake commute"—a short walk to signal the shift (great for anyone who, like me, works from home). • Listen to a podcast, music, or audiobook on the drive home. • Write a quick note-to-self for tomorrow’s priorities. Whatever you choose, put it in your daily shutdown in your calendar and make it a habit. I'd love to know your thoughts on this.

Do you have a Smile File? Yesterday, I received an email that made my day. A newsletter subscriber shared an incredibly positive life update and thanked me for helping them. I was so chuffed 😁 After replying, I saved their email in my Smile File (a subfolder in my email app for positive messages). If you don't have one yet, set one up. On bad days, a quick scroll through positive emails can be an amazing boost. Do you have a Smile File? If not, today's a great day to start one. --- ✏️ Doodle by me. The Iron Triangle is commonly used in project management. Each project has three key constraints: scope, time, and resources. You cannot change one without it affecting the other two. We often push ourselves to deliver maximum scope in minimal time, stretching our resources to the limit. That’s not sustainable. And it’s certainly not productive in the long run. If you’re constantly overcommitting on scope while ignoring your limited time and energy, burnout is inevitable. Instead, try adjusting the triangle: • Reduce the scope—focus on what truly matters or commit to fewer projects at a time. • Extend the timeline—give yourself breathing room. • Increase resources—ask for support or simplify the process. Productivity isn’t about doing everything. It’s about making intentional trade-offs so you can sustain high performance without sacrificing wellbeing. 💭 I'd love to know your thoughts on the Iron Triangle and how it links with productivity and wellbeing. --- ✏️ Doodle by me.
