I know a number of solid products currently doing this. I always knew it's a short-term vanity metrics farming. GTM strategists need to be more intentional about long-term sustainable metrics rather than short-term big "users number" and mostly "almost no volume" metrics
“Marketing” campaigns that incentivize product action fail 99 times out of 100, because they target low-quality, short-term users or “farmers”. This vanity metric is used by dishonest marketers to masquerade as successful onboarding. It’s time for a new marketing playbook.
