As their father, I've always tried to protect them and their beautiful minds from any and all harm.
Yet they still feel pain. They still feel sadness. But to be human is to feel all range of emotions. Silly daddy.

Daughter: Have you asked her to be your Valentine?
Me: No. She's already my valentine.

I'm right here. Your son. Tu hijo.
All I wanted was my pops' attention and maybe some affection as a little boy. Instead, I felt unwanted and unseen. He named me after his father, so this made even less sense in my little
We are tornadoes full of stories, emotions, and trauma. Miracles of nature. What happens after we collide is a story yet to be told.
Then we do it again. Or maybe we don't.
When I was just getting started I felt that if I had more information and training- I would be successful.
Now here we all are. Drowning in information. Lacking execution. Afraid to fail so we look for more information to distract us.
13 years since I walked away from my dependable job with benefits and reliability. Still standing and thriving.
Don’t be fooled by the hype. It’s not easy. It’s not recommended for the faint of heart.
But I had to bet on myself and went all in. Plus I don’t have a heart.
I didn't trust schools to give my daughters the education they needed to thrive in the real world.
So I taught them because it was my duty and obligation.

“My written words are my most precious asset. They are also a history of my life.”
@sivers
My words, stories, and life have value. If only to my daughters.
For clearer communication tell your kids what you need or want them to do.
NOT what you don't want them to do.
Read the essay below for a clearer picture.
Being a father is like being a gardener.
You plant a seed and nothing happens right away.
But you water the seed and nurture as best you can.
Then one day that seed is graduating and no longer needs dad and I lost the metaphor.
You get the point. Right?

Dads Would Die for Their Kids But Won't Live For Them
This is a call to action for all dads. If you love your kids, you will be mad at me and do something about it.
I tried Leaving before embarrassing my daughter. I really did. I don't want to be one of those hovering parents that want to soak up attention from their kids' accomplishments.
So I tried leaving. Then this happened.
Being a StepFather is Hard- Being an Ex-Step Father is Harder
This was the most challenging part of the divorce. I was still my kids' dad. But I was no longer anything to my stepchildren.
As their father, I've always tried to protect them and their beautiful minds from any and all harm.
Yet they still feel pain. They still feel sadness. But to be human is to feel all range of emotions. Silly daddy.
We will always have good intentions. But most of the time, we are the culprits when it comes to giving our kids bad ideas.

How & Why Programmed My Kids to Follow Stoic Philosophy
I was a stoic before I ever knew the term existed. Reading
@Ryanholiday
book, The Obstacle is the Way, introduced me to the philosophy of stoicism. Naturally, I had to teach my girls too.
I reached the tipping point. The marriage wasn't working.
On Xmas Eve 2006, I called it. I looked around, saw the gifts, and felt numb. But it also felt right and that would be the beginning of the rest of my life.

Day 05
To my baby girls who gave me the gift of being a daddy and having this day be all about me and only me.
Too much?
It's my party and I take pride if I want to. Take pride if I want to.
We started a family ritual when my daughters were little. It helped me put my little girls to bed with no whining and complaining.
But it had an even bigger payoff now that they're damn near adults.
