*predictably, one fell in but at the time of departure, at least, the birds remained undisturbed. I couldn't even see the lake of my second @WeBS_UK site! Though, a shoot was in full swing next to it, so possibly wouldn't be any ducks on it anyway!

Brilliant to see the bird race teams out today (as I left Spurn this morning ☹️), raising funds for the annual Michael Clegg Memorial Bird Race. This year, donations support the ongoing land management at @spurnbirdobs - just made my donation, and thanks to all taking part!!! 🩵
The "sun" is setting on the Michael Clegg Birdrace, and our tired and weary teams will be heading home shortly, and probably onto the Crown for final checks of the species list, collect some sponsorship money, and have a well earned drink! Donate here

Wander around Nazeing gravel pits for Boxing Day. A copy and paste of yesterday (except the walk was around Stanstead Abbotts). Today turned up some treats: 2 male Goldeneye and a ♂️Goosander. It's good to get out for fresh air between the eating and drinkies! 🎄Happy Christmas!

Enjoyable walk along Brancaster Beach in the drizzle (= before people came out! 😜) 33 Snow Buntings landed in front of us as the rolling flock continued westwards. Goldeneyes, Eiders, & Red-breasted Mergs enjoying the channels, giving a cold illusion to the mild temperature.

Goldeneye #patchbirding tick at Thompson Water this morning. And a close call when @Nina_OHanlon of Scotland only mentioned a flyover Raven in passing - only ever recorded them a couple of times at Thompson! A successful morning, great company, and stunning too! ❄️☀️💙
