The question I always get about open-source "Couldn't someone just copy the code?" If that's the only defensible thing about your company, you're ngmi. Product is the sum of every interaction someone has with your company, from the app to support, sales and everything else.

@lightdash_devs went from $0 to $XM ARR in less than 18 months; we have >130% NRR with a team of less than 15. Our ratio of users to team members is huge. It's wild the impact a small group of talented and hyper-focused people can have when you're rowing in the same direction: - Our latest big feature release, the ability to save and edit dashboards as code, was built by two people - Spotlight, which is used by more than 40% of our users to explore their metrics and KPIS just one month after launching, was built by a team of 3 - Our response and resolution time to customer support issues is measured in minutes Oliver and I have always wanted to build the best team in the world, not simply the biggest. Where folks can do some of the best work of their career.

A data model is ok. But the best data teams on the planet understand their business' growth model. That's because a lot of the most powerful interactions in a business are very hard to capture and measure. For example, does better customer support improve product retention? How would you measure that in your data warehouse? You could spend months trying to build all the right attribution into your data tables.
