Specifically, connectivity in this circuit is inversely proportional to BMI. This work expands our understanding of appetite-regulating circuits in the brain and explores a network that has the potential to become a therapeutic target in the future.

It’s been 10 YEARS since this patient has been able to use her right hand w/o medication. Now, thanks to DBS her tremor is gone and she is able to start playing the saxophone again. I’m inspired by her resilience and continue to be amazed by how much DBS can impact our patients.

More than 50% of solid organ transplant recipients report tremor, which can often be very debilitating. In this paper we describe how we were able to use focused ultrasound to treat a lung transplant recipient’s severe tremor.

When targeting deep in the brain, patients often ask how we can ensure we are avoiding critical structures. A simple measurement as you can see here shows that my chosen target for tremor is sufficiently far away to avoid side effects by irritating the internal capsule.
