DM me if interested to talk details! Thank you
Kabru loves stories - because stories are a very Human thing - but he cares about the mostly as a means of conveying a message, rather than being accurate. It has to be easy to follow, not too detailed, not too confusing, not too personal. Make it digestible. Make it clear
In love with the thought that Kabru wanted Laios to take more interest in people n humanity as a whole but all he accomplishes is that Laios becomes interested in him in particular, the one outcome Kabru absolutely didn't expect or want. It's so fun to make it happen over n over
Late to the discussion because I was touching grass but Laios studying/having a job in a field he's interested in never made sense for his character to me. I don't think he'd do well in an academic or competitive setting where he can't do things his own way at his own pace
John's beloved truck is a based on Steinbeck's real truck named Rocinante, which was custom made for him for the sake of his road trip across the US (detailed in Travels With Charley). For some reason the anime changed the design but manga Rocinante seems identical to me
My honest take is that the Guild is so good specifically because none of them are """found family""" to each other, they're a grieving father who sees people as things and his collection of weirdos who are desperate for money and more or less get along with each other sometimes
(partial nudity, weight talk)
Always thinking about the possibility of Kabru reaching healthy weight post-canon because he doesn't keep getting shanked and is fed well consistently. Put this speech in Consummate/Studious but I always wanted to draw it, too

If I told you what the people said about me being the child of a succubus, would you ease my pain and my worries by telling me that it was impossible, the way you did when I told you about it as an adult?

Laios wanting to get to know him better and being fascinated by his body and falling in love with him and only him because he's such a nice person and his eyes are so pretty and he's so smart and his body is so cool. Maybe people are interesting when they're Kabru, my friend
@YlGACLAN
The thing with Kabru I think is more that we're privvy to his internal monologue including intrusive and impulsive thoughts and everything else unsavoury and people kind of. Seem to forget he doesn't externalise 99% of it? If that makes sense
Contentious take but I think it's pretty weird to insist post-canon Kabru would study Laios like a bug without ever expressing that he likes him because like. The confession already happened right. He very much did acknowledge it already and didn't exactly take it back
Him being a minimum wage retail worker/manual labourer (jobs he doesn't care about enough to hate) and using his free time to draw, cook, and do his own research on animals intuitively makes more sense to me! That's his Free Time Thing He Does For Himself Because He Wants To
Sorry I love Poe but it's very funny that in the manga he's a hunched over freaky grinning guy with intricately designed curly hair and everything and the anime just decided "yeah we're not bothering with any of that he just looks like he got rained on constantly"
I've been thinking about Twain a lot lately and I'm...honestly more and more angry about his characterisation in the anime. Cutting out over half of his lines is bad by itself but it's what they cut out and what they changed about his entire vibe that angers me
Thread!
I guess what I'm thinking is with this approach he'd be a pretty good children's book author, if nothing else. The short illustrated kind. Get Laios to illustrate them for him, he likes to draw. Dream team
Small detail I like is that when Laios draws chimera Falin the human part of her is much less detailed than the rest of the body and then it gets even more obvious when you see how he draws Cerberus a minute later. We've seen his art before but I enjoy this juxtaposition lol

Considering how closely they're working with Kui-sensei I doubt they'd just cut stuff out willy-nilly, I think both the Kabru scene and this might be moved to a later point for the sake of pacing. I hope so at least. They clearly care a lot so I have faith for now
The way this fandom infantilises Atsushi should be studied until we find a way to fix it because I can't go on seeing takes about how he can't read, or use the toilet, or doesn't know what s*x is. I simply can't
