Another year celebrating a graduation with the team 💚 Thank you to the SPU student who lent us his cap and gown when Nika’s cap and gown didn’t get here from Connecticut in time!
one thing about our creative team, we’re going to commit hard to an all-star campaign
but we also couldn’t do this without player buy-in! love that our core four was on board
Some personal news: this summer I'll be interning with the reigning WNBA champion
@seattlestorm
! I'm super excited to be working in women's sports for this amazing team.
I took a friend of mine to a bunch of gatherings with journalists over the weekend, and when I asked if he enjoyed himself, he simply said, “I have never been around so many people who have read books and needed to prove to me they read them.”
Baseball was created on Aug 17, 2007 in the iconic scene “I Don’t Dance” in High School Musical 2. It was further popularized in 2008 by the greatest scene in cinematic history, the Twilight baseball scene. From there, the game only grew, culminating in the 2019 Seattle Mariners.
as someone who is graduating from uw this quarter, it is very weird to suddenly have already gone to my last class when i thought i had another week left
This was such a special game to be part of and I am so proud of the work our team did both leading up to today and today itself! I knew I would be emotional but looking out at a crowd of 18,100 was even more overwhelming than I expected.
I’ve been at
@thedaily
since the summer before my freshman year (overachiever, I know) and it’s finally coming to an end today. I keep thinking of more I could say, but this column says some of it.
it was such an honor to pay homage to the greatest athlete this city has ever seen. this isn’t the way we wanted to say goodbye, but i hope we did it well anyway 💚💛
Just want to shout out
@GoldsteinStreet
for his awesome coverage of coronavirus for
@thedaily
! A lot of his reporting is going without credit in larger papers, but he’s continued tirelessly for the past couple weeks.
The
@seattlestorm
— an organization based in Seattle, which is currently without its own or any nearby NWHL franchises — will have fan face cutouts in every team’s section in Lake Placid. Wow.
I'm about to graduate and go into sports media, and it's honestly really scary to see things like this in my future. Even scarier is the Astros' response, and what that means for how women are seen and treated in the sports world.
During the Astros’ ALCS celebration, assistant GM Brandon Taubman yelled, half a dozen times, to three female reporters, “Thank God we got Osuna! I’m so f——— glad we got Osuna!” On a systemic problem, in Houston and across the league:
Student newspapers are doing some really amazing and necessary work right now on how their schools are handling COVID.
So this is your regular reminder to support your local student newspaper! Donate to them! They need your help to hold their school accountable.
It's officially Taylor Swift weekend in Seattle, so I wanted to share some of
@Seth_Dahle
's finest Swiftie work for
@seattlestorm
, starting with this "tour poster" highlighting Sue Bird's eras for her jersey retirement:
Love the story the Pac-12 Networks commentator is currently telling about Maria Bogomolova's first official visit to Washington! I would also love credit, since I wrote that story earlier this week:
The
#WNBAPlayoffs
were a big content opportunity for participating teams, who combined for over 273M impressions and 5M engagements this postseason.

Playoffs Report:
The WNBA season was going to start today, and my career in sports along with it. Instead we’re all suspended in uncertainty — not just wondering if I’ll have a job but also everything
@mellentuck
talks about here. It sums up a lot of what I’m missing.
how am i expected to get work done today the seattle mariners are playing in the postseason. i wasn’t expected to work last time because i was THREE YEARS OLD
The Super Bowl: annoying
The Patriots: especially annoying
People who have to tweet about just how much they Do Not Care about sports: literally the most annoying
i know... this is nitpicky. but if a professional newspaper writes an article about a student newspaper, they should probably get the name of that student newspaper right? just a thought?
This opening night roster announcement was so fun! Got to put a spotlight on every player on the roster, and also share these AMAZING photos from
@JaneGPhoto
and
@SportsPavel
. I am so happy with how it turned out!
okay i’m gonna say it. i miss sports!! i miss watching sports and covering sports and tweeting about sports!! i’m sad that i’m not watching a wnba game while following along with college softball regionals right now!! ahhhh
I finally shelled out for a Seattle Times subscription just to read this story, and it was worth it. Really important and well reported by
@asiakmfields
.
A UW investigation found sufficient evidence that athletic executive Roy Shick's behavior amounted to sexual misconduct. Less than a year later, he became vice president of another university.
