We have lost a WW2 legend: the wonderful Comet Line courier Andrée Dumon. She was 102. She survived Ravensbrück & Mauthausen. She was funny, kind and exceptionally brave. In 2012 she told me about the moment she was arrested by the Gestapo:

@DrMatthewSweet Sorry if this is predictable but I have to go with his work on '60s war films - esp Where Eagles Dare. Such an iconic theme. First saw his name on this Geoff Love album. Still have it on vinyl. Easy to become overfamiliar with film themes & forget just how great they are.

A regular at evasion line memorial events and still known by her wartime codename 'Nadine', Andrée was a lovely person, with time for everyone and a lovely sense of humour. She wrote a memoir a few years ago. #WW2 #CometLine

Stan Booker, the last surviving airman held at Buchenwald, has died, aged 102. Stan was heavily involved in the campaign to get memorial plaques listing British & French agents murdered in the camp placed in the cellar where many were hanged.

An important read for writers and researchers: ‘We’re seeing a very worrying trend. Not only is a lot of material closed which should be open, but a lot of material that was previously open is being reclassified and closed.’
