Last year when I first visited Assam, not far from where I was working a series of evictions were taking place. I came to learn these were riverine communities displaced due to erosion, who then settled on forest reserve area only to become targets of the govt machinery.

One of my favourite discoveries in Assam was the banana flower - and the super yum + varied preparations. Found out TODAY that it's a Goan delicacy too - I had no idea all this while (!) Called Kelphulachi Bhaji (Kelphul = banana blossom) here & Kolphool bhaji in Assam! 😄🤭

Reminded me of my first weekend in Guwahati, homesick and ready to go back. On a whim, I took an hour-long bike ride to watch the sunset at Deepor Beel. Somehow, by the end, everything felt lighter. A reminder that while much is out of our control, some things still are.
