@TorontoStar As someone who studies higher education governance I would note that this is extraordinary. A huge red flag for a need for some form of third party review of governance commissioned by the college.

Our new study of the regulatory landscape for private career colleges in Canada, with a particular focus on Ontario, has just been published by the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario. These colleges play an important role in postsecondary education in Canada.
Our report on private career colleges (PCCs) adds to the understanding of how PCCs are regulated and legislated and lays the foundation for future research that could inform recommendations for the sector. Read it here: #highered #ONpse

So a provincial faculty association moved very quickly to disagree with a decision made by a national association of scholars, researchers and students. I think that having a college host is a great change - but I also wonder whether any universities volunteered.
OCUFA's response to recent @federation_hss announcement to hold the 2025 Congress gathering at a public college instead of a public university:

@AlexUsherHESA But remember there are huge variations in fees by institution within each country so one has to be a little careful.

@AlexUsherHESA Perhaps important not to forget that Ontario public colleges are inside the “Government Reporting Entity” and that the public component of PPP revenues (and accumulated surpluses) are on the government books. It has been good for the government AND the colleges.

@TheLostQueen5 @AlexUsherHESA If you are an international student taking a public college program at a private college then you would be part of a PPP arrangement. You would be enrolled as a public college student and be eligible for PGWP. Private colleges on their own can be DLI but students cannot get PGWP
