One of our fitting crews have just had to walk off-site after the homeowner was being abusive and making personal comments about one of our staff's weight. I have done this job for 15 years and I maintain that every year the general public becomes harder to deal with.

Right now, when the UK and the planet is facing a genuine catastrophe, I have to commend the calm, measured way both the PM and the Chancellor are trying to handle the situation. Put politics aside, they are doing their level best in impossible circumstances.

How about, when all this is over and a new world emerges, businesses pay other businesses on time when product/services are delivered. No 30/60/90 day terms to drag it all out. When work is done, it should be paid for. Simple as that.

@afneil could institutions really not see this coming when the rate hikes started in December 2021? It's fairly obvious that hiking in the way they have done was going to hammer mortgage and debt holders. Totally foreseeable problem.

This is by far the best door we have installed. Had to do some making up to the head due to a lower ceiling internally, but the lads finished it well. Customer is very pleased as are we. Will post a full article on this product soon. @SpitfireDoors #pivotdoor

Our new @SpitfireDoors showroom, complete with @VitrineAlu lantern and flat sky lights is pretty much complete and now open. It's a fantastic space and a quality addition to the business. The doors are amazing and I particularly like the lantern! #aluminium #doors #glass

Well, I've been a dad a week now. Still feels funny to say that. By a country mile the hardest thing we have ever done. But also the most rewarding thing. I no longer feel human, and have forgot what sleep feels like. Supremely proud of @SophTemplesFall though!

Looks like decision on lockdown rules will be made on Monday. Expect no lifting, and very likely tightening of restrictions. Anyone thinking we'll all be back to work next week is going to be mistaken.

I do like selling against Everest. A client I signed up today said that their rep started out at just £54,000 for a house full of flush windows and composite doors, but if they signed today it could be done for an absolute bargain basement price of £30,000. A whopping £24,000

We're about to enter a period where fabricators and suppliers are going to need to fight to new win business. Wonder how those who got rid of their sales teams during the boom period are feeling now? Sales staff are a vital key to the success of any business.

Installers classed as retailers. Fabricators classed as manufacturers. Shops won't reopen until at least June 1st, which will mean plenty of installers will decide to remain closed. So with fabricators opening up tomorrow, there is going to be a clash.

Since June 15th, I have to be honest, I cannot think of a single job I have lost since putting trickle vents in our windows. I've told clients about the new rule and although not the most exciting detail, everyone has gone along with it.
