Thank you Celia Alves for sharing this awesome photo of me at the Global Excel Summit last week! What an incredible stage, both literally (looks just like a TED talk) and metaphorically (what's better than envisioning an even brighter future with Excel?). Maybe I'm a little more forgiving about some of the current integration struggles between Excel and AI, but that just means we need to get creative and find some workarounds. If that's not what Excel is all about, then I don't know what is. If you'd like to learn more about using Python, Excel and Copilot together and what that might mean for the future of self-service BI and citizen data science, you can check out the presentation resources at

Seeing a new technology transforming roles and industries adjacent to yours offers a great opportunity to ponder if your field might be next. Overlooking it by saying "it doesn't help me" or "it's not very good" is somewhat like saying "it doesn't work." Not exactly the open-minded approach that characterizes a thoughtful analyst. That's what bothers me so much about the collective shrug and groan that the Excel community seems to have about AI.

And that's a wrap from London and the @ExcelSummit! I had such a fun time with the most inquisitive students I've had in a while for our in-person masterclass on Excel Power Tools. We covered getting the most out of AI for Excel through structured data via Markdown and Power Query, the basics of using Python in Excel, and then put it all together with the Advanced Analysis with Python features of Copilot in Excel. We then ended the class with a brief survey of Power Automate and Office Scripts, which put us at a place of being citizen data analysts, scientists, engineers, and developers—all AI-powered and all in Excel. I'm so excited for the future of Excel and for next year's summit! Until then, it's time for a little holiday in Greece 🇬🇷

After 2 days of an absolute knowledge dump and an amazing time meeting everyone in this lovely world of Excel, it's time for my masterclass here at the Global Excel Summit. I'll be covering a survey of tools to help analysts get deeper insights and prepare and present them more effectively. We'll be running the gamut from AI and Copilot to Python in Excel, to even a bit of Power Automate and Office Scripts. If you'd like to see the course resources, head over to . Please consider joining us at future Global Excel Summit events. You can follow their page for updates and follow me for more analytics in Excel in the meantime.
