These pictures were taken at Cornerstone Christian School, where tuition is $27,000. Abbott’s voucher is only $8,000 — not enough for working families to get a “choice” but enough for rich families at Cornerstone to get a 30% discount. Vouchers are welfare for the wealthy.

You know what public school educators do in the course of their day? They teach the TEKS - the curriculum mandated by the state. They complete mandated reading academies, STAAR prep, continuing education courses, and safety drills. They work to make sure that ALL students feel safe and equipped to learn, play, and explore. They try to squeeze in lunch and conference time to plan and build relationships with families. Indoctrination? Sure, if you’re referring to the attempts to get kids to turn their homework in on time. It’s time for those trying to sell the voucher plan that no one is buying to do so without slandering our educators. This trustee is saying ENOUGH.
