The folks behind SPD looked at the obviously samurai-themed Dekaranger episode and decided to not try pretend any of the rangers could have been a descendant of a samurai, especially Jack. Also Ban's ancestor is here.

I get that the SPD rangers aren't characterized the same way the Dekarangers do which makes the detective work harder for the former when Sky switches bodies. They still make the story work with the dog but it highlights that the Dekarangers really are police detective

I know this is adapting a Dekaranger episode story but in SPD they have no reason to not just shove him in a card.

SPD turned the Dekaranger story about a robot girl learning about having a heart who at one point decided she should activate a dangerous robot monster so the rangers can destroy both of them to save lives into a story about prejudice even if Dekaranger sorta covered that too.

I am specifically talking about when they are adapting closer to the source with the above but of course we have the Zordon era stuff where In Space turn a normal Sentai that ironically would've been perfect for earlier seasons prior into a big finale of a multi-season storyline.

Bingewatching Dekaranger burnt me out from seeing the suits for a bit which was why I paused SPD to instead binge King-Ohger. That and the 20th anniversary special made me feel old and a little sad. Taking a break from binging Sentai and Power Rangers after this

@okaytooslownope They seem like they'd have that dynamic where Sethos would call him partner and Scara, annoyed, goes "Don't call me partner" at first but later on would say the same thing but a lil more affectionately.
