Wrote this a while ago. On cities. I’m exhausted from the abundant absence of nature in cities, I’m in love and scared at the same time. Haven’t you heard? Fresh air is the biggest luxury. Let’s not talk about space and noise. Let’s not talk about costs and rents. City chaos reeks of loneliness. So a drive few hours away would be ideal. Isolated, but solitudinous. I know people who leave cities and move to Goa. Never wondered why. A little house with private trees, a garden full of flowers and creepers, ocean sounds, free sunrise-sunset cycles. And, definitely a weather that lets you sweat for a regular cleanse of toxins. You suddenly start finding waves in your hair, shiny-gleamy-happy skin, a tint of tan on top of your own melanin, and wide relaxed eyes that rest in their sockets as they are meant to be. So what does it take to leave a city you once loved? Does it take a dream, or a hasty decision or scientific analysis? What does it take to let go of your love for that city you once dreamt of living in? What does it take when you crave for an absolute absence of it?
