@seanluomdphd @BadreNicolas I think this is changing, particularly amongst the neurodivergent or those more dominated by their affective consciousness. As in all things, I think it is horses for courses. CBT was a reaction, as Dr Badre says. The pendulum has perhaps overswung, but that's okay.

I am not a critic of psychodynamic theory ay all. And when I started, I thought this was the ultimate approach. I now believe this is far from true for all.

@Psychistential @MarkLRuffalo it is ostensibly descriptive, but I do sometimes think that is ironic given the meaning of functional in psychological terms often referring to the "purpose" of a symptom, or how it might be inadvertently adaptive/reinforced.
