@SashaGusevPosts this makes sense as a general strategy, but i am also curious/concerned about the longer term strategy for research, science, tech. i guess the idea is defund universities, privatize research under the control of tech oligarchy + SV... then what? is this actually viable?

we have all become experts overnight on indirect costs so we know all the potential negative impacts. but the only benefits i can immediately see for the administration are 1. upholding their anti-woke promises, 2. demonstration of power/authoritarianism. what else is there?

@ApollotheHills wow, hard to believe! i moved here 2021 so didn't experience pre covid but have heard things got worse because of it. i've never seen drivers so unwilling to stop for pedestrians at pedestrian crosswalks. and you have to play chicken to get them to even slow down
