the way most of the incidences recorded on the racism in uk schools account are about teachers is so upsetting. your students learn from you, often by example. when you say something racist, you are spreading harmful ideas to these kids. you’re teaching them discrimination.

Reading Alice Munro right out of high school was one the best gifts I could ever give my teenage self. She articulated the small domestic mystery with the same seriousness she afforded to the big question. She taught me more about writing than anyone else, probably. RIP.
