I can’t imagine how many lesbians at the time this scene/monologue must have spoken to. I hope she was able to let them know that they weren’t alone, or the only ones feeling that way, even if she was just playing a character. Forever grateful for her.
Happy 117th Birthday to Barbara Stanwyck. An incredible actress, and a strong, complex, beautiful human being who touched the lives of so many people, and continues to do so.
Thank you so much, Ruby ❤️
I certainly agree with all those who find more sex appeal in Barbara Stanwyck and her ankle bracelet in Double Indemnity, than in all those naked bodies rolling around on the screen today.
readers will be like "that's my emotional support character i love them so much" and it's the character that needs so much therapy and is usually covered in blood
“My passions were all gathered together like fingers that made a fist. Drive is considered aggression today; I knew it then as purpose.”
35 years without Bette ❤️
Barbara Stanwyck is such an incredible actress that her thick-ass Brooklyn accent never takes you out of her performances. She could be playing a character born and raised in Alabama, and I’m like “yeah, totally. That tracks. Flatbush, AL”.
Also, the bravery it must have taken to accept a role like this, which very well could have ended her career. It’s even more incredible when you consider that she may (probably) have been gay.
