Agents are greedy in Nigeria (Lagos Especially). If they help you sell a Land or Hpuse, they agree to 5% commission but if it comes to getting tenants to rent an apartment, that 5% agency fee which should have been statutory looks very small for them, so they charge as high as half of the rent as Agency fee. Landlords are still to be blamed for this because they enable it.

My Lawyer prepares and signs the agreement, so he gets his Agreement / Legal fees and it is also 50k. All is just to make sure young people renting houses don’t get overwhelmed with cost. Truth is renting of houses is the least profitable investment in Real estates but it’s also the most essential in the business, if we really want people to have a roof over their heads.

How I wish that will happen but I don’t like living in self delusion. That title is going to Anfield and Liverpool will win it a game before they play Arsenal.
