@Noahpinion Looks like Musk may be anticipating the March CR. Not paying some treasury debt would give more room for an extended standoff. And Musk doesn’t seem to realize that playing chicken like that will likely have major market effects.
GOP Congress in 2017 rejected Trump proposal to cut university overhead rate to 10%. Blocked change in stopgap CR & appropriations bill. True, GOP team play stronger today than 2017. And Trump acted, didn't ask this time. But lawmakers not powerless here.

@ZombiePanther2 I think blaming does have roots in the limbic system. And that’s the reason blaming is easily focused on groups and/or individuals when there are existential threats.
BLAMING: + Blames self (or others) for things outside their control + Always wants to know whose “fault” things are + Focuses on who’s to blame for the problem, rather than working to find a solution "Faces of Cognitive Distortions" (2/16)

Excellent point.
@gorskon @flowinguphill I hope many of those like to come to Germany. Studying in Germany is cheaper and we are in desperate need of highly qualified personel. And we don’t have Trump. 😉

2/n The truth: I’m an academic professor who takes zero funds from pharma or foreign govts. We live on my college salary in a modest town home near the Texas Medical Center where I work. We have one leased car, Ann drives me to work. We struggled to put our kids through college
