This bleak Saturday has been saved thanks to Tom's at @craftydevilbrew in Penarth The double - well seasoned and properly smashed beef, cheese, pickles and sauce. I'd have liked a little less sauce so the beef could really do its thing but otherwise it's as good as it gets

This is Cobbles Deli (Ogmore) tribute to the Cubano - heaps of Pulled Pork, Ham, Salami, Cheese, Mustard and Pickles. Style and Substance both on show here, a very good sandwich that held itself together surprisingly well. Looking forward to trying a few more over the summer.

Also how good is @CardiffMarket_ at the moment?! For me, it represents the positive direction Cardiff seems to be heading in towards enhancing its reputation, which people are all too quick to take cheap shots at. A way to go, but we should shout about the places we're proud of.

Tukka Tuk Canteen has been forced to close permanently. This is a huge loss to Cardiff's indy food scene from two of the biggest legends in the game and it should never have been allowed to happen. This won't be the last - use them or lose them people.

The Pork Tonkotsu Sando from @TokyoNightsSF at @CardiffMarket_ is one hell of a sandwich. Japanese milk bread, thicc pork cutlet breaded and fried (to perfection 🤪) with cabbage, a sweet and tangy Tonkotsu sauce, mayo and mustard. All for imo a very wallet friendly £7

Just seen an Instagram reel describe a place in London as serving "authentic Italian tapas" and then proceeded to bleat on about how it served Patatas Bravas and Padron Peppers and if you listen carefully you can hear the soul of @cleanplateblog wretching in the background.

I haven't stopped thinking about this dry aged pork I had at Parallel last night - I didn't go for any blog purposes but it would be daft of me not to at least share it & suggest you book yourself in. I've been three times now and it seems like they've really found their groove.

First thoughts on the new @brotherthaiuk Roti Bar on Whitchurch Rd. About as lovely as you'd expect. The Thai Fried Chicken especially is a masterpiece and the very opposite of whatever it was I had from Honest yesterday. Exciting times to be on Whitchurch Road.

The Philly from @ceginoriel The pick of the two - slices of Bavette steak with Peppers and Cheese Sauce all housed in a properly great baguette. A couple of twists of salt needed but other than that a really good sandwich and a nice homage to the classic.

First to the table at Parallel was a flatbread which if not for the existence of my eyes the aroma would've convinced me that it was a 10/10 burger. It tasted every bit as good as you'd expect a freshly cooked flatbread smothered in a metric fuck-tonne of beef butter to taste.

If Kindle's potatoes are an attitude laden slap to the face, then Poca's crushed new potatoes smothered in garlic aioli and parmesan are the opposite - gentle, warmly comforting and designed to be eaten by the bowlful, getting better with each bite.

AD | Partially comped I was lucky enough to be invited to @thomaspontcanna last night where I was fed this outrageously good beef wellington which at £50 (£25 pp) including two sides is one of the most wallet friendly ways to eat some of the best cooking you can find in Cardiff.

Lunch today comes in the form of a roasted pork Bahn Mi from @Hanoi1991 in Royal Arcade. A good portion of roasted pork with an ideal meat to fat ratio. Freshness comes from cucumber, pickled carrot & radish while the addictive heat of Sriracha rounds off a comforting Lunch.

Backyard takeaway pic klaxon - The "Pepperoni Bomb" from Roma'Eat is one of the best pizzas, if not the best I've had from them yet. Pepperoni Sausage Nduja Red Onion Goats Cheese Crispy Fried Onions It ain't traditional but it's bloody good.

Nasi Lemak - A breakfast staple in Malaysia and my tea last night A mound of coconut rice acts as the belly filler with fried chicken to the side begging to be demolished. Crispy Anchovy provides a piscine hit and a sambal delivers a decent whack of heat. Comforting. Happy Lok

I must say that our first visit to @kenpictonsalon / deli on Friday was a good one - was with some pals so didn't get my usual photos but tartare, sea bass ceviche and burrata dishes were superb. A bit pricey, as is the way these days but I can see them doing very well.

Sunday is take out night and Moo Moos got the nod yesterday. Not much of a looker post delivery but for my money; the Panang Red is up there with the most complete dishes in Cardiff today. Best served simply over some steamed rice and letting that curry do all of the talking.

Crab Rarebit - about as delicate as a bit of cheese on toast can be. The Crab doing wonders here, just about holding its own against a pretty prominent cheese sauce and ensuring the last thing you can taste is its dainty meat.
