With some careful balancing of transparency I made a variant of my Sketch icon that lets your wallpaper bleed through and color the gem itself 💎🎨

The irony is that micro transactions & ads is the exact thing we *didn’t* want for Headland. We’ve gone out of our way to design a game that’s presented & valued straightforward & honestly. People feeling entitled after the free download and asking us to just ad ads. Infuriating.

As someone who has worked on *a lot* of Apple TV apps there’s so much awesome going on here (buttons, yay!)
But changing the label on the ‘back’ button from ‘MENU’ to ‘<‘ is going to help so many people better understand the mental model in apps on the platform 🙌

The new TestFlight icon is 👌
I love how the propellers are squircles gradually taking on more mass— like an app being build.
It’s the sort of visual connection to the subject matter that I’m always pursuing in my work. A little built in aha-moment. A wink through the screen.

I believe transparency is underutilized in macOS app icons.
By carefully balancing the transparency, you can allow the background to bleed through, creating an even cooler effect with dynamic wallpapers.
Here's an example I created with the Sketch icon.
