Added a new section on the koaning blog to highlight all the ergonomic keyboards that I have reviewed. Turns out, it was quite a few!

I kind of realised something the other day. Particularily when you want to do interactive code with an LLM ... it helps to understand that LLMs really need "spells" to work their magic. Made a video to help explain this phenomenon.

@lucabaggi_ @akshaykagrawal @marimo_io @modal_labs Can't you already do this straight up from Python with the right library? The livestream I did last week showed how Modal (partially through the joblib integration) can do this sort of stuff in Jupyter. Feels like it should also work in Marimo?

@ZzimM Anki is cool, just to be clear on that one. The approach here is very similar with the main difference that calmcode will curate the cards and spaced repitition.

Made a tutorial video on VIAL, which is a neat bit of open-source software that makes it easy to configure some (ergonomic) keyboards. For sure a niche topic, but I really wish I had this video when I got started with this.

Made about a podcast about a really neat distillation technique. Instead of making transformers lighter, what if we use them to derive much better word embeddings instead?

I managed to find a keyboard that I am unable to manage. Solid build quality, and I think I get the idea. But it simply doesn't seem to click at all with me.

I released a minor update to drawdata so that some buttons render better. Small update, but super helpful library in case you've not used it. You can learn more on the git repo here:

@HamelHusain I think I would like it more if there was a proper android voice in there that does not sound like/pretend to be human. The robot voice from Mass Effect Andromeda would be stellar for this in my mind.

@CohorteAI Can't say. The fact that this idea seems neat does not mean that we've got a silver bullet for high stakes applications. It might be a guardrail, but I doubt it is the only one that's needed.

To all those who own a Voyager (or ... any ergo keyboard with choc switches for that matter), I made a little video about all the upgrades that I tried. If you are a keyboard nerd, you might appreciate some of the stuff I tried (like tilting the keycaps).
