Breakfast Presenter 6.30am-9.00am weekdays 91.1FM ABC Central Victoria: Bendigo, Castlemaine, Macedon Ranges, Kyneton, Rochester, up to the Murray at Echuca etc
Just catching up with this one from yesterday’s Age, quoting bystanders listening to the press pack ask Anthony Albanese questions on Friday.
Says something that the public is frustrated at the journos and not the politician(!)

Rochester, Victoria! God I love you Rochy.
Local graphic designer Nigel Riordan is responsible for these projections on the old milk factory in the heart of town. Great work!

They believe the outside world is a place of wickedness. No forming friendships or communicating with outsiders, except to do business. If you leave, you are excommunicated. And now the
#ExclusiveBrethren
cult are planning a huge church in
#Castlemaine
.
Finishing The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion,
#Bendigo
. Final pieces being put on top this morning, after a 16 yr build. Largest Buddhist shrine outside of Asia. Built to last 1,000 years.
Live from the front steps of the Capital Theatre in

By popular demand (okay one person..) here’s my selfie with Priscilla Presley at the media call for the Elvis exhibition which opens in
#Bendigo
today.
Yes I have no shame, and due to that I have no regrets!
Exhibition’s awesome btw- some pics in the thread

Strathdale Park soccer ovals!! 😮💦💦
(None of this water is supposed to be there and it’s running down the ramp like it’s a raging river into what looks like a lake but it’s an oval.)

Concentration face from
@james_findlay

See you bright’n’early
@_kimberleyprice
!
Oh man that’s early i better get to bed goodnight 😴
This is actually v. exciting for Goornong & towns just north/ NE of
#Bendigo
. It’s been so long since passenger trains stopped there and they built a whole new station!
Can catch PT to Bendigo & Melb plus Goornong pub owner hopes peeps catch the train there for counter lunch etc
The first passenger train has just arrived at Goornong Station, with the new station now complete.
Locals and train enthusiasts here describe it as “historic”
@abcnews
Well this is the first time I’ve been greeted with colourful balloons as I walk into the studio! What a surprise!
Cause for many to celebrate today... assuming
@james_findlay
put these here because it’s... my birthday... 😀
(And it’s too early for bubbles)
Congratulations to RPCV Rural and Regional Journalism and Photography Awards 2023 winner for Media Outlet of the Year: ABC Central Victoria.

Hey
@woolworths
, why can’t I just buy one yellow capsicum? Why do I have to buy three capsicums? And what’s with the ridiculous packaging? Do they need a plastic tray AND a plastic bag? Terrible!
#WarOnWaste
Oh thanks for the shout out Shannon… and thank you for your help in the office and doing what you could, while also doing the news during those 3 hours! 👏 👏 I wasn’t the only one multitasking!!
This tweet is just a shout out to the extremely impressive and professional
@fionaparker1
who is not only presenting a 3 hour live breakfast program where she’s keeping
#Rochester
residents up to date with the latest flood news… she’s also producing herself!
What a privilege to be at the opening night of
@HamiltonMusical
… half time… sorry, interval(!)… and it’s just wonderful!
The Aussie cast is superb.
#HamiltonAU
Best thing I saw today! They’re setting up the Elmore Field Days site as a “temporary village” for those displaced by the
#vicfloods
at Rochester. The residents will likely be there for some time.
The official name is the Elmore Flood Relief Village, but locals call it…
Okay. It got me. The ‘rona.
Spent a week in iso earlier this month trying desperately not to get it from my son, did everything possible to remain negative and it worked.
Then opening night of Hamilton and… well, here we are.
Missing a dear friend’s wedding on Saturday now 😔
Colin from Rainbow in Victoria just texted in to myself and
@Wil_Anderson
on
@ABCDriveVIC
. He’s hoping the
#SSM
survey results will put Rainbow on the map.
The first passenger train of the day from Castlemaine/ Kyneton etc arrives in
#Bendigo
at 8.20am. Not good enough say commuters, who point to the first trains into Ballarat (6.42am) & Geelong (5.51am) as being a far better timetable.
Listen for more 👇
Might I say, I have driven through, and stopped at, Beaufort SO MANY TIMES, yet everything on this
#Backroads
episode (besides the bypass issue) is new to me. Thanks
@heatherewart1
!
(Max Sharam. Who would’ve thought??)
Omg KEN DONE IN

Australiana: Designing a Nation opens

tomorrow & my goodness it’s a nostalgic treat, along with being a perfectly curated walk through how Australians see themselves and are represented through art & culture in history
#MyAustraliana
💔 So bloody devastating talking to the President of Castlemaine Football and Netball Club about the death of 17 year-old Dallas Keogh-Frankling in that under-18s match against Kyneton on the weekend. But my god he spoke so well at such a difficult time.
I’ll be talking to Jane Caro at 8.30am on 91.1FM ABC Central Victoria, to expand on these thoughts. Listen via radio, ABC Listen app or Tune In app etc, or via the ABC Central Victoria website.
What an entirely predictable bunch of nasty philistines these LNP politicians are. They won’t help the Arts sector during the pandemic & are now doubling cost of an Arts degree. Mr Gradgrinds the lot of them & an Eng Lit major would help get that reference.
The first regional media interview Victoria’s new Premier
@JacintaAllanMP
has done!
Hear her talking floods, whether the state govt should authorize more water released from Lake Eppalock, & revelations at the inquiry into the axing of the Comm Games.
Well, here we are again. On air from 6.15am! Thanks Long Service Leave; you’ve been marvellous.
And thanks
@emmanobel
,
@mnkearney
& the
#ABCCentralVic
team for the welcome back! I think I can just see my desk.
#vicfloods
Sewerage system completely out of action in Rochester, and will be for weeks. No flush. Nothing. Will require “a number of week’s work before it can be safe for residents to come back and enjoy all the infrastructure services,” says Greg Murphy, Incident Controller.
Celebrating the
@bgowritersfest
which kicks off in earnest today!
Here’s ABC team bringing you Statewide Mornings from the beautiful Capital Theatre in View Street, from 9.00am on ABC Victoria!
Tune in 9am - 11am on your local ABC across beautiful regional Vic!
How are you feeling about the rise of the Oodie and Ugg boots in public?
Okay maybe trying to get away with wearing them into work was a bit of a stretch…
But supermarket, servo, takeaway shop… Are you okay with that?
Everyone’s going on about the up-coming
#Bendigo
version of
#Monopoly
but ya’ll are forgetting this old chestnut from the 80’s.
(Modelling gig with

Checking up on the work done today in
#remotelearning
for
#VicLockdown5
and I bring you this piece of poetry from Mr Grade 3, on the topic of… blue cheese
Broadcasting from Rochester this morning… a year on from the devastating floods.
@eden_hynninen
on now with the Rural Report, and I’ll catch you at 6.30am after
@amassedmedia
’s local news!
ABC Central Victoria - 91.1FM or via the ABC Listen App.
As a listener very learnedly pointed out to me some time ago, while delivering a bumper sticker to the studio which stated as much also, after a long morning of on-air debate and discussion: There is no “R” in “Castlemaine”.
@theage
@DannyKatz1
#vicfloods
- Here’s my notes from today’s update with SES Chief Tim Wiebusch, for communities in Central and Northern Victoria, re flood peak timings. (Note- doesn’t include the west / Horsham etc, or the Ovens/ Goulburn/ Shepparton which is arguably the main concern right now)
If you’re up early tomorrow, I’ll be on air earlier than usual for the latest
#vicfloods
info for central & northern Victoria. Join me from 5.30am on ABC Central Victoria!
See you bright’n’early

Oh man that’s early i better get to bed goodnight 😴
Omg literally my breakfast this morning!! It’s Chinese celery & pork dumpling soup, thanks to amazing producer
@RebeccaNormanoz
who’s also turned out to be an amazing cook! As we talk winter meals on Breakfast on ABC Central Victoria. What do YOU like to cook this time of year?
Okay all - let’s lay off the writers fest!!
#EricBogle
has NOT been disinvited from the
@MtWritersFest
… it was a local pub where the person was completely ignorant of the real meaning of Bogle’s lyrics!
(*Now, does anyone know WHICH PUB??)
To all those from Castlemaine who are at Camp Reserve at the footy club rooms, or were at Kyneton today, and are feeling it tonight, I can’t express in words how sorry I am.
We know Laurie as an award-winning
#Bendigo
baker (pumpkin bread AMAZING, hot cross buns yum, sour dough loaf HELLO), but we also know he’s been through hell.
21 years on, he keeps telling his story in the hope it saves others. All power & respect to him.
Best News Story - RADIO
And the winner is: Kimberly Price, ABC (Central Victoria),

@_kimberleyprice
This is put so well. Vale
#Bendigo
’s Rod Fyffe. He will be so fondly remembered by so many, and his legacy will live on in the future of this beautiful regional city, which he loved so much.
Vale Rod Fyffe, ‘the mayor with the hair’ has sadly passed away today after a long illness. A
@GreaterBendigo
councillor for 38 years (mayor 4 times) he was always happy to have a chat on the radio or at local events. Condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. 🕊️🕯️
This is a print out from the
#Coronavirus
Victoria website list of public exposure sites.
@VicGovDH
note
#Echuca
is spelt wrong, twice.
An issue if people are searching for it.
#CovidVic
Welcome Josie Taylor to the ABC’s
#Bendigo
team! We are very lucky to have her here and all the experience that she comes with… and make sure you do get in touch with any local news/ issues/ talking points/ gripes/ story ideas/ tips/ tidbits etc etc.
On the Breakfast show this morning, we’re talking about dressing up, off the back of my starring turn at Singalong
#SoundOfMusic
at
#Bendigo
Cinemas last Friday night… dressed as a nun. Here I am in all my glory (that’s my sister on the right)
Finished this last night.
An amazing insight into a closed community/ high-control group (
#cult
), dealing with trauma & the incredible fortitude shown by the sisters.
I’m so, so sorry about what you’ve been through
@dassi_erlich
but thank you for sharing it & fighting for change.
Just said to Mr 9 year old, “Shush I’m trying to listen to Wayne Swan,” But he thought I said “shush I’m trying to listen to Dane Swan,” and ran to the television.
Disappointment palpable.

@SwannyQLD
@InsidersABC
EXCLUSIVE: There WILL be another, earlier, morning peak V/line service introduced from Castlemaine into
#Bendigo
!
Listen to my interview with
@mareeedwardsmp
from this morning's Breakfast show 👇
While it was totally annoying to wait for 1 & 1/2 hrs (most of it standing in the queue outside in the cold 🥶🥶) at the
#Bendigo
walk-in clinic just then so my son could get tested, I’m super proud of the local response. People just doing what they know they should.
#COVID19Vic
Look, this scorpion isn’t usually welcome on the mic, but this morning I’ll make an exception. Wild Action Zoo’s Chris Humfrey is in the studio! Tune in now on 91.1FM ABC Central Victoria!
Another pic from
@bgowritersfest
Outside Broadcast. Love this one with Tom Keneally in full conversation/ raconteur mode!
What a privilege to talk with him.
So mum and dad are on this big trip, first time ever in New York, and I’m getting photos of all the usual, you know, the Statue of Liberty... mum in front of Tiffany’s, dad at Times Square, etc etc...
Then, this...
Well, it’s all over- the rain, for now, in central and northern Vic.
How much did you get at your place?
@RebeccaNormanoz
and I would like to know as we draw a picture as to what fell where, on Breakfast on ABC Central Victoria. Tune in now!
Both my kids just found out that fingernails don’t grow from the end... that they grow out from the cuticle... and that hair grows from the scalp, not the ends.
At first they didn’t believe me. Their expressions were like 🤨🤨.. 😮😲.. 😳🙄... 🤯🤯
Now they’re just freaking.
When Bendigo’s Sarah Goninon told her NDIS provider she wanted to be a professional actor, their reaction was akin to “Yeah but what do you really want to do?"
If only they could see her now, win awards & tread the boards @ the Venice Biennale!
#Disability
Mayor of
@campaspeshire
just told
@JoPrintz
on ABC Central Victoria that she’s worried people in
#Echuca
are still underestimating this flood event, as water heads towards Echuca from Rochester and then more from NE Vic along the Murray.
I did a Thigh Stand! 😃😀
Thanks to Elena Kirschbaum and Paul Westbrook from adult circus Rouge (which is on in Castlemaine next week)… the studio looked different from up there!!
Okay, the 3,000-piece
#Elvis
#puzzle
is go. Edges sorted.
(I think I may live to rue the day my husband picked it up at the
@BgoArtGallery
exhibition but in this first half hour it’s all been fun and games.)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post-race interview with "Bamawn's own" Col Pearse. GO COL! There's absolutely no shame or embarrassment to shed a tear after taking home bronze after such a struggle to get there with Vic lockdowns and training in the dairy farm dam. Excellent stuff!
