Cool thing abt Alphonse’s Milwaukee piece is how fun & easy it is to read. All that legwork & interviewing, & it’s not unwieldy/boring. Probably that’s down to his talent for synthesis, being tough abt which interview bits are worth keeping, storytelling ability, & good editing.

My most old-person complaint about current rap is the live show often isnt what it could be. Too much rapping on vocals, too many people on stage, not enough actual factual performing. Im not saying Jeleel back flipping is the answer but I would like to see more artistry on stage
