🚨Manchester United’s plan to bring back Mason Greenwood included listing football pundits, politicians & journalists and categorising if they would be hostile or supportive. Domestic violence charities were assumed “hostile”
It’s an absolute honor to let you all know I have been elected as a Labour Councillor for Gorse Hill ward in Trafford. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and
@CllrDavidActon
, it is a huge privilege to be given the opportunity to represent you - I hope I do everyone proud 🌹
Gutted to let everyone know I lost Brooklands tonight by 19 votes after a very tense 3 recounts. Thanks to all 1875 people who voted for me, you are diamonds. One day soon I’m sure Brooklands will have the 3 Labour councillors they deserve.
Toasty visit to Royal Mail to support the
@CWUnews
members on strike. Someone came and dropped off 2 boxes of Thorntons chocolates 🥹
Support your local striking workers, it really means a lot to have public support 🪧
Made it down to the
@CWUnews
picket in Gorse Hill. 40,000 CWU members on strike today. BT and Openreach workers have been imposed a real-terms pay cut,

Humbled to announce that thanks to local members, I am now the Labour candidate for Brooklands Trafford in the Local Elections 2020 🌹Brooklands is a marginal seat, so if anyone can lend us a hand over the next few months I would be eternally grateful. Let's do this ✊
Honoured to have been selected as the
@Trafford_Labour
candidate for Gorse Hill, for the local elections in May. So grateful to have been selected in such a wonderful ward - can’t wait to get stuck in🌹 Sad to see
@MikeCordingley
go, but I hope I do you proud 😃
@Alex_Niven
When I did a street stall with him in Sale a few weeks ago he literally went down such a treat, loads of people asking him for pictures and one asked for his autograph on a leaflet! He is very well loved here
Just returned home from our quarterly meeting with
@ManUtd
. These meetings serve as a platform for council members to share resident feedback and for United to provide operational updates. Here are some of the things we discussed at the meeting 🧵
Proud to have made my maiden speech
@TraffordCouncil
tonight opposing fracking. We need a permanent ban on fracking. Our government should be focusing their time and money on building an economy based on 100% clean energy.
You gave me the greatest privilege of my life when you elected me as Mayor of GM.
I can honestly say I’ve given the job my all & will continue to do so if re-elected in May.
I will also keep donating 15% of my salary to support our work on homelessness.
We did it 🌹
Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I’m so happy to have 3 more years to make a difference in Gorse Hill & Cornbrook. We wont let you down.
@RobRVernon
Wonderful stuff! I feel like travellers are one of the only minorities people still think it’s ‘okay’ to discriminate against, which is just so wrong. People need much more education about their community and way of life.
Thanks to
@AdamCrafton_
for his reporting on this. I hope United take steps to repair the damage this will inevitably do to their relationships with domestic violence charities and lots of others in their fan base and wider communities.
Today was my last shift at the vaccine centre
@LifeCentreMcr
as the vaccination programme is moving on elsewhere in Trafford. I’ve absolutely loved being a tiny part of this heroic effort by our NHS 💙 💉
Great to be out and about with
@AndyBurnhamGM
this afternoon. I am so excited for his plan to bring buses back under public control and Bernie can’t wait for the pilot of dogs on trams if he’s elected 🐕 🚋 Andy’s stood up for us during this pandemic he deserves the ❌ in the 🗳
Delighted to be with striking
@unitetheunion
members from CHEP in Gorse Hill ward. They are currently on 19 weeks, the longest strike in Unite’s history. I hope they get the pay rise they deserve. You’re all an inspiration ✊🏻
Massive well done to
@stephane_ulrich
- a LABOUR GAIN in broadheath ward.
@Trafford_Labour
now have the most councillors we have ever had on Trafford Council at 43 🌹
Today's the day people in Brooklands can go to the polling station and vote for me and
@AndyBurnhamGM
😮 Brooklands is a marginal seat so every vote counts! Don't forget wherever you live to get out and
#VoteLabour
🌹 Find your local polling station here 🗳️
Absolutely appalled Britain’s First are standing and campaigning in Broadheath ward. The far right have no place in Trafford or our society as a whole and we must do everything in our power to stop them.
It’s polling day! I’ve adored being one of the Labour candidates for Gorse Hill - thanks to everyone who has given me their time, ideas, and knowledge. If you live in Gorse Hill please do vote for myself and
@CllrDavidActon
we appreciate every vote 🌹♥️

So happy with my bathroom. Took inspiration from the inside tiles of
@PRBusStation
. Few bits let to sort but so happy with my first big house project 😍
I don’t get why journalists are trying to turn this into a story. It was -8 when I set off campaigning. There were days worth of ice on the pavements. People were answering their doors in outdoor clothing. 10 days before Christmas. We still got the highest ever Labour % of vote.
LGBTQ+ couples in my constituency have to pay up to £9,600 before they can access NHS services, while those in different sex couples do not have to pay anything. Use
@stonewalluk
's tool to find out the situation in your local area and email your MP here ➡
For anyone that thinks politics is glamorous here we are sat in a leisure centre car park. Been at the count since 9am, still no counting started. Staff are being amazing, a lot of ballots to be sorted and separated.
So delighted we have secured £100k of funding, split equally between Marje Kelly and Gorse Hill Park. Really looking forward to working with the wonderful friends of groups on making this money work for residents! 💚
Me and
@CllrDavidActon
have submitted our paperwork so are now officially the
@Trafford_Labour
Candidates for Gorse Hill in the Local Elections on May 5th. We celebrated with one of Dave’s famous selfies 🌹
Thank you to
@ManUtd
for hosting lots of community groups, charities and local residents. I’m so pleased they got this special chance to play at Old Trafford today ⚽️
Tonight me,
@CllrDavidActon
and Laurence Walsh were selected to be the
@UKLabour
candidates for Gorse Hill & Cornbrook for the local elections May 23. Representing Gorse Hill has been such a privilege, I’ve loved working for the community and hope to carry on for years to come 🌹
Before I got tinnitus (from re-occurring ear infections) I didn’t know how common it was or how mentally deflating it can be. I vowed at the end of last year to talk about it more, as it is
#TinnitusWeek
I’m doing just that. If anyone has any ques- I’m here!
@BritishTinnitus
👍🏻
Working from home has reduced emissions, saved people time/money, and encouraged people to spend money in their local economies. With rent/mortgages often being people's biggest outgoing, surely allowing people to spend more time locally is a good thing?
Very pleased
@TomWRoss
has been appointed as the new leader of
@Trafford_Labour
. As a resident of Gorse Hill himself I know Tom will always do the best for our residents and residents across all of Trafford. Tom is not only an outstanding politician, he’s a wonderful friend 🌹
It's polling day in Trafford! Don't forget to cast your vote for who you want your local Councillors to be today - you have 3 votes.
⏰ Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm
🪪 You need photo ID to vote
🌹 Thank you for all your support, we appreciate every vote🌹
Proud of
@ianhornby
and all the other
@ucu
members. They all work so hard and haven’t seen their pay increase fairly in too long. Hope they get the help they need to survive the cost of living crisis soon
My grandad dedicated over 30 years working for the NHS and this weekend he spent a night sleeping in the corridors of A&E on a trolley my grandma had to beg for. Our country is so broken, we all deserve so much better 💔
Very excited to share that we now have 7
@BerylBikes
hubs in Gorse Hill. These hold publicly operated, self-service bicycles that can be hired 24/7. In the plans we have seen, there are several more locations to come to Gorse Hill. Hope residents enjoy them! 🚲
Went under the knife yesterday, not going to lie I was quite worried about it before. Wanted to say for anyone who has surgery, hospital visits etc planned (or your loved ones do) the NHS have responded amazingly to this COVID-19 crisis and I couldn’t of felt more looked after 🥰
So proud we passed the motion for
@TraffordCouncil
to treat care experience as if it were a Protected Characteristic. The young people we heard from were so brilliant. I will do everything in my power to make sure we listen to and act in the interests of all cared-for children.
The most important part of our
@TraffordCouncil
meeting happened before the formal meeting began. Thank you to the care experienced younger people who so powerfully voiced why having care experience as a protected characteristic is so important.
Sadly my wonderful ward colleague Cllr Laurence Walsh has decided to retire at the next election in May 24. Tonight Gorse Hill and Cornbrook Labour picked George Devlin to be our candidate at the next Local Elections 🌹
Today would've been the day the good people of Brooklands could vote for myself and
@AndyBurnhamGM
. The campaign situation couldn't have really got any stranger. Hoping residents in Brooklands and beyond are safe and on the bright side, we get to keep Andy for an extra year!
Last night Gorse Hill and Longord Councillors had a meeting with
@ManUtd
. This was a forum for Councillors to provide feedback from residents and for United to provide an operational update. Here are some updates…
