Definitely seemed like they wanted to make Macaque far more ‘villain’ than ‘tragic hero’, or they didn’t plan on making him redeemable by the looks of like cause like…. Damn.
Here's another concept design for Y3 Macaque. His shadowpower allows him to summon the shadow monkey clones (like Mking using his hair), eventually also create the 80033 the Macaque mech.

I think shipping people with Chang’e is odd, cause she’s already married. Idk if that’s the case in LMK, but her whole story is based around her romance with an archer and how she loved him so much she went to the moon as her place of residence as to be close.
