A series of devastating wildfires have scorched Los Angeles County, leaving five people dead and destroying more than 2,000 structures across multiple communities. Fueled by fierce Santa Ana winds with gusts reaching up to 100 mph, the fires have created one of the most destructive firestorms in recent memory. For those who have lost homes or businesses, recovery efforts include filing insurance claims and seeking assistance from local shelters and support organizations. However, insurance coverage challenges in fire-prone areas add to the burden for many victims. The wildfires continue to pose a significant threat, with officials warning that conditions may worsen before improving. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to stay updated and follow evacuation orders as they are issued. #news #updates #community #URGENTE

San Joaquin County law enforcement has announced that it will not assist in enforcing President Donald Trump’s recent federal immigration crackdown, aligning instead with California state law. San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow and the Stockton Police Department stated that they will not participate in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids unless they involve criminal activity within their jurisdictions. The county is home to approximately 55,000 undocumented immigrants, and officials assured the community that law enforcement's priority remains public safety, not immigration status. "We've been receiving a lot of questions and a lot of anxiety in certain parts of our community," Withrow said in a video posted to Facebook. He emphasized that his department's approach will remain unchanged. "Whether you're documented or undocumented, we care about good people in our community. We're going to go after bad people." Stockton’s new mayor, Christina Fugazi, is wasting no time in addressing city issues, announcing her first initiative just days into the job. Fugazi, who officially takes office on Jan. 7, revealed her plans for “Light Up Stockton,” an effort to repair blown-out streetlights across the city. “The city has a lot of neighborhoods where the lights have all been blown out,” Fugazi explained. “What happens as a result of that is we have higher incidents of crime.” Fugazi emphasized the connection between public safety and infrastructure, stating her intention to prioritize fully staffing the Stockton Police Department. The city faced its first homicide of 2025 just hours into the new year, highlighting the urgency of her plans. Fugazi also suggested the possibility of declaring a state of emergency to bring additional law enforcement support to Stockton, a measure that would require city council approval. Jason Lee, a South Stockton native and recently elected District 6 councilmember, has been nominated to serve as Stockton’s vice mayor. Mayor Christina Fugazi announced Lee’s nomination Friday evening, and the City Council will vote to confirm his appointment at their meeting on Tuesday. “Stockton is in my blood. I’m grateful to Mayor Fugazi for this opportunity and ready to fight for every person in this city,” Lee said in a statement. “Together, we’ll tackle public safety, homelessness, economic development, and youth programs to ensure Stockton’s voice is heard loud and clear.” Lee defeated incumbent Kimberly Warmsley in the November election, representing Stockton’s south side with a landslide 15-point victory. If approved, he will succeed Warmsley as vice mayor. Lee’s journey to the City Council is both inspiring and unconventional. Raised by a single mother, he overcame personal challenges to achieve significant success in Southern California as a Hollywood entrepreneur and founder of the news and gossip site Hollywood Unlocked. His career has connected him with celebrities such as Kanye West, Cardi B, and Kevin Hart, but his return to Stockton has been marked by a deep commitment to his hometown.
