Sorry if this hurts some feelings, but it needs to be said. Lately, I’ve noticed an incredibly irritating trend—where people assume they have the right to dictate who our leaders can or cannot have social interactions with. The moment someone is seen engaging with individuals from the other side of the political spectrum or had relations with them, their loyalty and character are instantly questioned and attacked. Nothing could be more immature or foolish than this. A simple social interaction, basic courtesy, or mutual respect does not mean someone is disloyal to their party or ignorant of political dynamics. This kind of aggression and hatred will only make politics more vindictive and destructive. Yes, those who have misused and abused power should be held accountable. But that does not mean every single person on the other side must be attacked at every level. That’s not how politics—or society—should function. Let’s put an end to this armchair activism of trolling our own party leaders. If we truly care, let’s engage with them on how to develop our state and constituencies. Let’s focus on being progressive, not regressive. Politics requires assertiveness, not mindless aggression. Sorry for the harsh words, but it genuinely pains me to see hardworking, honest leaders being dragged into unnecessary mudslinging.
