A common problem that many IGLs face is not having any clear direction on how how they want the round to play out. As the IGL you should have an idea as to where you want to end, what orbs you want to grab, what utility you want to condition, etc.

2) Methodical calling
As obvious as this is, you MUST call with a purpose. Many inexperienced IGLs tend to call plays without any true meaning behind it. A common mistake IGLs make is getting lost in the playbook and more importantly NOT ASKING for INFORMATION around the map.

Info-sharing is by far a very important aspect that you must master. Being able to identify a weak side is crucial. You should reserve time in the pre-round for your players/lurkers to feed you information on what's going on around the map.

3) Controlling the pace/tempo of the game
A lot of tier 3/4 teams find themselves defaulting/hard-hitting almost the WHOLE GAME. The issue with this is that you're predictable and easy to counter. As an IGL it is YOUR JOB to control the pace of the game.
