Last week Anat Shabi led us through an afternoon workshop to help us review and reflect on our challenges and successes since becoming independent, using the powerful tool of LEGO! Lego? Yes! LEGO! We learned much about ourselves, each other and how we individually respond to challenges, the learned habits we acquired when starting a task and the strategies we use to ease discomfort and pressure. Thank you Anat for creating a safe and joy space that was both immersive, relaxing and insightful 🤍

🕎 Happy Hanukkah! 🕎 Wishing everyone a joyous Festival of Lights filled with love, and the warmth of family and friends. This Hanukkah we remember the miracle of the oil but also the powerful story of Judith. Judith's bravery and strength in protecting her people are a testament to the courage and resilience that Hanukkah symbolises. Her story reminds us of the important roles women play in our histories and traditions, and the enduring power of standing up against oppression. As we light each candle, let it not only illuminate our homes but also inspire us to carry Judith's spirit of courage and justice into the world today. May she inspire us to stand up for the harmed and vulnerable. Happy Hanukkah! 🌟💙✨

🎄✨ Celebrating Christmas and Reflecting on Hope and Strength ✨🎄 The birth of Jesus, a story rich with themes of love, hope, and resilience is marked by the humble beginnings of a child born, to the remarkable Mary, in a manger. Celebrating the birth of Jesus is also a celebration of the woman who birthed him. For many, her story embodies leadership, resistance, faith and fortitude. As we witness the struggles and hardship of women in Sudan, Congo, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Gaza and the Middle East, we are reminded that for many mothers-to -be and infants arriving in this world a manger is a luxury they can only dream of. We wish all those celebrating a spiritually nourishing time, we hold or sisters in war, conflict and harmful homes in our hearts sending them our solidarity and commitment to make the world a better place for all women and whoever inhabits the earth. 💜✊🏾

So inspiring hearing from South Asian Females In Recovery #SAFIR supporting survivors recovering from alcohol and substance abuse across the Midlands and beyond. A volunteer survivors group that does much needed work with some very marginalised Sikh women. Thank you @SikhWomensAid for making their voices heard.

Solidarity with our sister @PayzeeMalika for continuing to advocate against violence against women and girls despite the #Islamophobia and racism she experiences whether from those who appropriate her pain and who subject her Islamophobic and racist trolling and harassment. Keep shining sis
I did respond saying “that’s not very nice thing to say is it?” And he said “well neither is Islam” Such a shame people can’t just put their biases aside and actually listen to those who speak up about abuse, regardless of what we look like or where we were born

Very interesting breakdown of data on who the primary and secondary perpetrator of domestic abuse in @SikhWomensAid’s research “Gender, Power and Abuse”. Data is so important in providing the support survivors need, be sure to read it #MeTooKaur

@SIKHWAid_CEO @SikhWomensAid @Richard_Scorer @hudzyboo @LisaROakley It’s rare that discussion on faith, its role, manifestations in abuse and recovery are ever discussed at a conference organised by feminist and front line organisations. Thank you for making space and hosting us via @hudzyboo in this conversation

Powerful testimony by #Gaurav, the son of _#KamaljeetKaur murdered by her husband in 2023. “Our mother’s story should have never been written, but it’s our deepest wish” that her death should be the catalyst to stop further deaths at the hands of domestic abuse and Vawg. #MeTooKaur
