Evening all. So the stew us finally done. The veg has kept its shape and isn't soggy. The meat is absolutely falling apart its so tender and the gravy is lush. I can officially declare the experiment a roaring success and now I'm going to eat this luscious bowl full 🤣🤣

Bit of a different afternoon for me. A few people know that I love baking but haven't felt the urge much these last years or at all since I've been on the boat. Well that changed today. Banana loaf and an apple pie. Nothing exciting, but another step to normality for me. 😋😀

So a quick Ozzy update. First off he's 14 so he's an old fella now. He had all his tests and they've diagnosed early stage kidney failure to be managed with a special diet and some medication then back for a checkup in 3 months time. He's safely back home now with his dad. 🙂🙂

Day 1 of new life today. Sold the house. Buying a narrowboat to live aboard ready for some slow paced canal adventures. Having a hopefully short break in between in Norfolk where it is sunny but fresh down at the cliffs. Applications as galley slave through DMs pls 🤣🤣

Morning all. Another cold one last night but the fire is stoked and alive with flickering golden flames as I type. It was 18°c near the fire, 13°c down the cool end so it's done its job overnight on the coldest night of the winter so far. Steak for dinner last night 😋😋🤣🤣

No lunchtime treat today as I've been out in market harborough with my daughter who turned 21 yesterday. Her and my son have become self-sufficient, kind, funny, independent, decent human beings who make me proud to be their dad. I'm sure their mum would have said the same 😃😃

Today's update. I made it. So relieved to have got that tunnel out of the way, although it was awful and now I'm in a beautiful marina for 6 months of getting stuff sorted and I can't wait. Photos of all sorts of stuff along the way and a welcoming sunset that was incredible 🙂🙂

Morning all. Glorious day yesterday. Got the lights up and working. Didn't realise they were soft white rather than bright but they give off a nice gentle glow that lights up the inside of the boat. Penguins are coming along. Took the dogs along the towpath yesterday. Lovely 😃😃

As someone who nursed their OH through cancer that eventually claimed her life, I sincerely hope Catharine gets the treatment she needs & the time to recover. I hope William gets the support he needs if he needs it. Maybe now they can be left alone to face this awful illness.

Morning all. managed to keep the fire going all day yesterday. Took a bit of attention from time to time but the reward was a nice warm cosy boat all day. I banked it up overnight and it seemed to last OK. Still a few glowing embers this morning & 13° in the boat 😃😃. Result 👍

Just for me my shopping bill has gone up by at about 50% in the last year. Including dog food I'd have been spending about 50-55 a week, and that's now close to 90 for essentially the same things. Also no alcohol. How anyone with a family is managing now, I have no idea.

Morning all. Yesterday was a little jobs day that needed doing. Like cleaning through the boat. 🤣🤣. The hoover got blocked by a mountain of dog hair. The stove creates dust like no tomorrow and wet paws bring their own issues. But it's still better than not being on a boat🤣🤣

Morning all. For those following the story, I took Richard and Ozzy back to the vet again yesterday to pick up some meds they didn't have the day before. He was much brighter than the day before and Ozzy seemed better too 🤣 steadier when walking. Otherwise it was a grey day 😀

Back in the dark pre-vax days, it was about 1 in 10 million had it twice and they were doubtful. Fact is, if you've had it twice, chances are one of them at least wasn't covid. If you HAVE had it again after the vax, you need to wonder what the vax has done to your immune system.

Morning all. Trip to get a haircut and a few bits for the boat aside, I spent yesterday painting a sunrise and photographing an amazing sunset, probably the best one since the day I got here. It just seemed to go on getting better then quickly vanished. Quite stunning. 😁😁👍👍

Morning all. A busy day, well morning at least, cleaning down and decluttering the galley on the boat. Chucked stuff out, found homes for other stuff that was cluttering the worktop. Job done and glad I did it. Reward? A clean and tidy galley and steak & chips for tea. Epic 🤣🤣

Can't believe it's already been a week today since I moved on board the boat. Yesterday was filling the fridge day and a couple of bits for the boat to get the galley how I want it and make things easier for the dogs, so rugs basically. Then some nosh 🤣
