🧋🐮 Ayaitto artist 🔞 • English is not my first language 🌸 • But I’m gonna talk anyway ✨• This blog has practically become an Ayaitto hub at this point 🏠
🧵📌
This thread is for my
#ayaitto
art, headcanons, random thoughts, facts, and any other related content regarding the ship or each of them individually. 🧋🐮
I really miss the way HoYoverse portrayed Itto during his story quest. Back then, he was funny without being reduced to just a comic relief character. Shinobu wasn't there to save his ass, and he was actually capable of handling problems on his own. 1/2
Despite having the most screen time of any character, his characterization has become so oversimplified that most people think his whole personality revolves around being an idiot and randomly speaking Spanish (which, ironically, isn’t even in the original script). 2/2

🧋🍭in 4.4 🧵:
• Ayato likes playing along with Itto's antics and boosting his self-esteem.
• At one point, Ayato calls Itto '知己.' The term 知己 in Chinese can be translated as 'soulmate' or 'kindred spirit'.
no sabzeruz festival.. no inazuma summer festival.. no sumeru festival either... but we have to face an itto event every patch it's getting boring and not even funny anymore
This is from HoYoFair2023. We've seen this picture in low resolution and cropped versions, but I don't think anyone has shared the original? Click the link to see it in HQ and show your appreciation by leaving a ❤️ under the original submission.

Another interesting thing about the CN version is the part in which Itto says, "Ah, between him and me, we have no need for many words, [we're totally on the same wavelength]." It's fun to interpret because it's so uncharacteristic for him to be quiet.
(Alright, while we're on the topic, if the English team wanted Itto, a demon from Japanese folklore, to toss in some non-English words for that extra cool factor, why not just use, you know... some actual Japanese? 🥴)
Commissioned work! 💚 This picture was inspired by a story from early access, in which

accidentally killed Isobel with his glaive, Sorrow.

I always felt like Itto's past was something that scarred him deeply. His traumatic childhood left a mark on his personality that made him develop this happy-go-lucky, carefree attitude as a defense mechanism. 🧵1/3
"Thank you for every kindness. For being someone I was always proud to be with. For your guts, for your sweetness. For how you always looked, for how I always wanted to touch you. God, you were my life. I apologize for every time I ever failed you. Especially this one."

Ayaitto crumbs! 🧋🐮 In ancient China, there was a belief that people from the south were cunning and smart, while people from the north were honest and simple. It was believed that combining the best qualities of both regions would lead to a promising future.
@skyebatungbakal
“Stop babying them, they’re not dumb!”
It’s not about being dumb. It's just that non-English-speaking artists couldn't care less about those trendy English phrases that teens come up with every week to sound unique.
I rarely get new notifications when I don't tweet anything, but somehow people always find a way to like or retweet this particular piece out of the blue. :D
In CN, it says 'custom-made' audio equipment. Ayato never disappoints when it comes to spoiling Itto with rare fancy gifts. 💅
The last sentence is also a little bit different: 'I hope my friend can help me understand'. Itto, please explain this meme to him. 👴
• Ayato knows how to communicate with Itto in a way that gets through to him.
Note: The English version made Itto sound skeptical when Ayato asked him to give up the dish. In the Chinese version, however, Itto appeared torn between his hunger and his desire to please a friend.
If not soulmates, then why north and south? 🙄 If not soulmates, then why sun and moon? 🤨 If not soulmates, then why red and blue? 🧐 If not soulmates, then why 'This is what they call kindred spirits?' and 'Nobody knows Ayato better than me!'? 🤯

Ayato/Ayaitto headcanons time. 🧵
It's unclear if Thoma and Ayaka know that Ayato is hanging out with Itto, so I like to imagine that Ayato keeps it a secret just to have something entirely for himself. 1/6
The idea came to me after Ayato called Itto his zhiji (知己), and I discovered that the term is linked to an old folk tale. This story centers on a character who stopped playing music when his closest friend passed away – the one who understood him the best.
• The full dialogue goes like this:
"You have good taste, Itto. I've never been a fan of overly complicated dishes either. Hmm... this is what they call kindred spirits, isn't it?"
"Kindred spirits? Haha, yes, that's it, kindred spirits!"
Remember when Ayato watched Itto's five minutes of fame, chuckled at the backstage stuff, and then got disappointed when Tenryou Commission showed up and spoiled the fun? 🧍👁👁🤳

I still think that Ayato isn't hiding his status from Itto out of fear of how Itto might perceive him. I think he does it for himself, to have a sense of normalcy and freedom. Itto not being aware helps him to uphold this illusion. 🥲
• Itto declares the 'Humble Enough' dish as evidence of their friendship. The original name of the dish, '知足常乐,' means to find contentment in simple things and appreciate life's blessings.

"Ayato, bro, tracking you down's like looking for an Onikabuto in a haystack! Speaking of which, check out this god-level beetle I caught for you!"
"What an... unexpected gift. Thank you."
#GenshinImpact
"But they literally call each other 'bro'!"
Ayaitto haters are on another level, for real. God forbid a romantic relationship be built on mutual understanding, shared interests, and friendship, instead of the omegaverse tropes they're used to. 🥴
• In the Chinese version, Ayato calls Itto '兄,' which can mean 'brother/bro' or 'close friend' in English, while in the Japanese version, he calls him 'Itto-kun.' Itto calls Ayato '兄' and sometimes '兄者,' which is the same thing but used to indicate that Ayato is older.
• Ayato doesn't mind using some of Itto's 'cool' nicknames and enjoys listening to his stories about beetle battles.
• Ayato makes sure that Itto doesn't feel embarrassed and takes measures to prevent him from poisoning himself with soy.
He does realize what's going on; he's not completely delusional, but his concept of reality remains somewhat superficial. If you ever catch me calling Itto immature, it would be for these reasons, not because he's loud, talks a lot, and is obsessed with bugs. 🧵 3/3
Genuinely, I'm amazed by the amount of positive feedback this piece is receiving. When I uploaded it, I got several lovely comments and went to bed happy, not expecting anything else. I'm so grateful, thank you. 💙
He projects this cheerful persona to protect himself from the pain and hurt that he experienced. Confronting the harsh realities and accepting the negative things that have happened, are happening, and will happen in his life is simply too painful for him. 🧵 2/3
Honestly, I'm often disappointed with how little attention my art receives. I don't want to come across as arrogant, but it's strange to see other accounts hit popularity overnight with simple sketches of flying heads, while everything I do goes unnoticed or is ignored.
So, returning to the question of why Ayaitto isn't popular. It's simple, really. The more difficult it is to assign stereotypical male/female roles to a ship, the less likely it is to gain popularity. Yeah, I think I've cracked the case.
Happy Birthday,

To this day, I think it's hilarious that, in his CN voice line about Ayato, Itto says, "only a man understands another man the best." Itto ft. fragile masculinity: the saga. 😭
It's a pain that both this and the full version barely got 1K. At this point, I don't even know how to gaslight myself into not having negative thoughts. No matter how hard I try, nothing I do really works.
