This right here is why we are against corporate sponsors. It allows them to take centre stage and steer the conversation. Perhaps we need corporate involvement if we are to achieve change in our current system, but they should be held accountable, not held up as examples.
COP26 has 11 corporate sponsors: Unilever, SSE, ScottishPower, NatWest Group, National Grid, Sky, Sainsbury’s, Hitachi, Reckitt, GSK and Microsoft. All committed to reducing carbon footprint; all trying to sell stuff.
