@amillaaaa I hear this but I disagree. I’ve heard the same critique of Dever and the 9 Marks series. The critique is that it’s too dogmatic and arrogant. But if you listen to these guys, they firmly believe what they are teaching but they are also charitable, kind, and open to dialogue.

So many people look to various sources for answers to all kinds of questions. Christian, most of your burning questions, especially the uncomfortable ones, are found in the study of God's Word. Why does evil exist? What does God expect from me? Why am I unsatisfied with myself and those around me? Can happiness be found in this life? Unfortunately, we are too busy staring at the question, paralyzed, because our view of God is too small. We think He can't handle the tough questions when He already has.

This is 100%. Ideally, the church would help all the poor and suffering in their local community. Unfortunately, most can't. So maybe we should view social programs with greater appreciation than is commonly expressed.
Christian conservatives, you can’t complain about excessive government aid for the poor while doing nothing personally to help the vulnerable & raising kids to focus only on themselves, family, work, church, & hobbies. Same framework as pagan parents, just with church included.

How should you train leaders in your church if they haven't experienced local church leadership training? Here are my approaches: 1. Provide short blogs/articles (500-750 words) from trusted sources. 2. Give them audio content to listen to. 3. Discuss the material for the first 10-15 minutes of meetings. 4. Introduce short books like the @9Marks series. 5. Alternate between practical training (teaching, roles, responsibilities) and academic subjects (theology, church history, ethics).

I know many friends who could benefit from this article. As a business owner/farmer, one thing stood out: clients become friends faster than friends become clients/customers.
10 steps to building a side business in your spare time. 1. Build a Bicycle before you build a Cadillac. The Silicon Valley term for this is Minimum Viable Product or MVP. Your idea could be a bad one with no one willing to open their wallet to pay you. Figure that out early. Don’t ask your friends and family what they think of your idea, ask the market. It’s better to dump 2 hours into a PDF and post it on social media before you dump 200 hours into a business that no one cares about.

Resting as a covocational pastor is challenging but necessary for longevity. Here's what I do: 1. I take Saturdays off; no work is expected from me on this day. 2. I finish my sermon by Wednesday to avoid working on Saturday. 3. I don't check or answer emails from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. 4. I only respond to texts in an emergency, like someone in the hospital. Exceptions: 1. We have an 8:30 a.m. Deacons/Elders meeting this Saturday. It's our first one, aimed at training Deacons in their role. This will occur monthly for six months, which I make up for during the week. 2. Emergency visits On my day off, I work on my small family farm, watch @LFC, and enjoy burgers with friends at the @AmericanLegion. @erichoke, you've been in Covo longer than I have. Any tips?

In 2020 we decided, according to biblical conviction, not to take a PPP loan for this exact reason. We don’t want any hint of impropriety or invite the government into our church.
Aaand now it comes out. 30% of US churches and 50% of evangelical colleges—accepted PPP loans during COVID. Christianity Today was one of them. For tax purposes, this was treated as a government grant. And, **they never actually received the money!** The truth is, that Meg Basham etc should not have been taking a victory lap over this. The implication that this proved that they were "shepherds for sale" all day yesterday (with tens of thousands of retweets), was implying an untruth -- i.e. it was a lie. But a lie (especially on new populist-evangelical-industrial-complex Twitter) will go around the world twice while the truth is still putting on its pants. Read the comments. There will be no apology for the implied lie, because "well they're liberal anyway, so they're trash and need to be taken out." This is wrong, brothers and sisters. Repent while there's still time!

I’m not in here to make enemies. But I got blocked based on this reply. Logic and common sense seems to have been lost.

My 18-year-old students are trained to analyze this type of content. Moderates, including liberals and conservatives, are tired of this. We agree that people with Gender Dysphoria deserve medical care, but also recognize that men are not women and women are not men. We empathize with those who suffer and support medical treatment. However, the universal acceptance of surgery, hormones, and sports as treatment is controversial. Biologists and psychologists who disagree are often ostracized and labeled as bigots.

I am not against foreign aid. However, my small Massachusetts town struggles to fund school bus drivers, teachers, fire services, and road repairs without debt exclusions and overrides. Meanwhile, local residents on fixed incomes struggle with heating oil, electricity, and property taxes. These are people I know. Let's help other countries, but we should prioritize our own community first.
$43 million on a gas station in Afghanistan that had no customers, $1.5 million to promote LGBT Jamaicans, $4 million for trans Serbians, $5.5 million for gay rights in Uganda, $17 million for Vietnam “inclusion,” $25 million to promote “green transportation” in Georgia, $1 million for Arab and Jewish photographers, $8 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid “binary-gendered language,” and $122 million ended up in the hands of terrorists. That’s where the USAID has been spending YOUR money. Democrats have been sending your tax dollars to all kinds of crazy places, like George Soros’ prosecutor fund and even worse… the media. @politico received $26 million dollars over the last four years from the federal government. The White House says it’s all getting DOGED.

Youth Pastor voice: Vibes are great, but have you experienced the gift of repentance and assurance of forgiveness through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit? Turn to 2 Corinthians 5:17 for the greatest vibe shift in history.
A "vibe shift" is all well and good. But if we will see genuine spiritual renewal -- revival? -- we will need more than feelings and religiosity. We will need repentance, a returning to closeness with Christ.
