We have some sad news to report. Chris Burrous, a fixture on the KTLA 5 Morning News since 2011, passed away Thursday. He was a beloved member of the KTLA family and will be deeply missed. He was 43.
43 years ago today(6/13/77), a young reporter began his career at CBS2 in LA. Can’t think of a better way to put a ribbon on it all. So today...I am announcing my retirement. 72 years old, 43 years at CBS and 48 in LA. It’s time. No regrets. Just grateful. Signing off June 30th.
Chaos at Dodger Stadium vaccine site. I have 1:40 appointment for my 83-year-old Mom. Line is endless, can’t find the end of it, no traffic control, no info. There has to be a better way.
Remember in 2017 when the Astros’ Yuli Gurriel made a racist gesture against the Dodgers’ Yu Darvish and MLB gave him a 5-game suspension for that. A lighter penalty than what Joe Kelly got.
Met some great people, saw some awesome bands, laughed a lot with cool ass coworkers. Is the timing ideal? Not even a little....but I’m lucky. I’ve got amazing people in my corner. Thank you all. Truly. ❤️❤️❤️

Excellent work under challenging conditions. It's this kind of behavior I find frightening. The next step is violence. We should all be worried.

The manager of the AM/PM in Norwalk says the woman who bought the $26 million lottery ticket six months showed up yesterday and says she left the winning ticket in her clothing and put it in the laundry. Today would have been the last day to claim the jackpot.
Very sad to learn of the death of security guard Kevin Nishita, who was shot protecting a journalist at our sister station in Oakland. He also provided security for our crew during the Dodger-Giants playoff game. Terrific guy.
Note from a viewer: "Can you tell Eric to STOP telling people that the arrivals level is the way to go at LAX? It's a secret for a reason and when everyone knows it wont be a secret for those of us who know about it!!" Sorry!
LAX was never pleasant but now thanks to the recent changes involving ride-sharing and taxis, it’s so much worse. If you can avoid it, don’t

A homeless person walked into LA City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell’s Echo Park field office, started screaming, and stole a plaque off the wall. Now LAPD officers are trying to chase her down on Sunset Blvd.
