That. Is a USS Indiana BB-1 warship Monopoly piece lodged in a child’s upper oesophagus. I’d call paediatrics to inform them pt. needs endoscopic extraction ☎️

Can’t even remember what it’s like to have a prime minister I’m not appalled with/ thoroughly ashamed of at this point 🤦🏻♀️😣. Seriously, when was the last one?
Had a 3-day long induction on hand washing and the importance of infection control...and I swear to God there’s an actual pigeon currently walking down the CCU corridor 🐦
It has been an impossibly long and arduous journey…but 19 years after day 1 of Medical school, I have finally made it out of the training programme tunnel…alive!!! To my mentors, friends and family: my success is your success. I’m nothing without you

on-call conversations...
”so on a scale of 1 to 10: where 10 is imminent death, and 1 is your patient requiring a scan less than you do, how urgent would you say your CT request is?”
Sometimes I remember my days on the wards trying to decipher what the radiologist meant when the report said e.g. “smooth interlobular septal thickening” or “subsegmental atelectasis with volume loss”…
I am now that radiologist. Wondering if the clinicians understand me 💭🔄
Sitting here trying to look as good as my American

Overheard in the reporting room 🩻👂🏼
- “A surgeon came in here looking for you”
- “Oh…was it Wolfie or Sharky?”
- “…not sure… He was in suspenders and a bow tie”
- “Ah! Big Dog”
🐺 🦈 🐕
“On the CXR, it looks like your pt. may have a pericardial effusion, have you done a bedside echo?” “No, we’d like a CTPA because we think SOB is due to a PE. D-dimer is raised”. “Ok....?😳”

Lol. My CTS consultant used to call a Cosgrove mitral valve retractor “the egg whisk” and an 11 scalpel blade “the more stabby knife”....and then got angry when new people didn’t have a clue what he was talking about 🤣🤣 good old days...
“Be a gate-keeper for radiation” they said. “Make sure you feel the exam is justified” they said...But the arguments are so unpleasant and so protracted, it just isn’t worth the confrontation at 03:30 am 😓🤬🤯

Had the same thing said to me by my biology teacher at school. Revenge may be a sick motivation to succeed…but it does the job sometimes. Shame on them though. I have faith that karma will get them. Will get them all.
When the on call shift makes you question whether people have lost the use of their hands, stethoscopes and clinical training and just use

instead 🥵🤯
Studying & learning stuff at the weekend because you want to be good at your job, rather than having to, in preparation for another exam is a novel experience 😊🤓📝

Have inexplicably found these 2 beauties in a forgotten box while I’m backing up for my ‘big move’…
Perfectly functional (can hear my own lub-dub). If anyone in UK wants one for free, DM me and I’ll send it over 😊👍
Dear self, next year I promise I won’t make you spend another birthday on night shifts on-call. Even if I have to fill out the leave paperwork a year early...
