Interesting on tillage vs dairy. Support of Irish dairy sector has pushed crop farming aside & left it struggling, while some 50m tonnes of emissions heavy animal feed – largely maize & soya – have been *imported* to Ireland since 2012 to feed dairy
thejournal.ie
Noteworthy analysis shows 50 million tonnes imported in the last decade as our tillage industry falters from lack of State support.

The how-on-earth is probably partly to do with it employing Tory MPs who get to interview Tory MPs about Tory policies. Net-trust score (total that trust news outlet and those that don’t trust it) is +4 for Tory MPs compared to -15 among public polled by YouGov in May.
Really not surprised that the FT is the most trusted news brand among MPs - it's a fantastic newspaper - and the Daily Mail is the least trusted. But how on earth can 24% of MPs think that GB News is "trustworthy"?!. Via @CharlotteTobitt & @pressgazette .

I know this is a drop in the ocean, and I know the problem needs to be stopped at source etc, but still, this is undeniably satisfying to watch.
Here’s the footage of extraction no. 78 and possibly the last extraction with System 002/C, as the crew is carefully taking the final steps to complete the transition to System 03, our biggest system yet.

AI has some cool applications for improving efficiencies and this is one. But we know tech tweaks are prone to rebound effects, plus AI has its own carbon footprint, plus is tech beating degrowth a self fulfilling prophecy because all hopes are on tech-fixes when we need both 🤷♀️.
Amazing: Google partnered with American Airlines, used AI to tweak flight paths to reduce contrails. The results are in, and if scaled up this could immediately reduce aviation's global warming impact by almost 20%. Technology just keeps beating degrowth!

EU has makings of a green industrial strategy (Net Zero Industry Act) but it still lacks a clear pathway for delivering the workforce that is actually going to install the solar panels, build the wind turbines and maintain the green-hydrogen grid. That’s no minor detail!.
