Olympics, World Cup, Rugby, Cricket… the sport doesn’t matter… this is still NOT the Twitter account of an entire country. Thank you.

My SaaS makes $50,000 MRR and is built on vanilla Ruby on Rails (not even using Hotwire) and jQuery. You probably don’t need to learn <new framework du jour> to launch your business.

What happened to unobtrusive JavaScript? 2000: <button onClick="handleClick()"> 2010: <button id="click-me"> (and some unobtrusive handling code) 2020: <button onClick={handleClick}> (or however your JS framework does it)

I could not agree with this more. Anyone who believes otherwise is likely to have a livelihood that depends on the complexity of today's web dev.

unpopular opinion: web dev was better when stuff was simpler. even PHP, that blunt bludgeon that anyone could learn to wield (bluntly, at least), is now overcomplicated and overfancy.
