@ankitkant 8 months is horrifying!! That's unacceptable. Usually same day from us, maybe 2 days if someone is off.

@DrGoblin3 Yes that sounds ideal. We get a lot of subclinical thyroid stuff, vit D etc. I do convert to referral unasked where there's been a lot of back and forth, where a test we do can help (e.g. minor prolactin rise) & where I think we should be managing long term (hypoparathyroidism)

@edallen41 @BoyGeekDrone We arrange the specialist tests, and I support you pushing back on that. If anything, I see patients getting too many/too frequent tests! Especially for incidental stuff.

@Megsenmumdr When that's clear in the letter, I am happy to see a patient for an explanation discussion. I do reserve the right not to see a patient. For instance, for a 4th or 5th opinion (!) about a problem they don't have. Or where GP has managed perfectly and no other concerns stated.

@BoyGeekDrone I wouldn't replace with email- for one, A&G (for me) takes time to do properly (reviewing notes, GP record, bloods, meds etc) and I am paid an hour a week for it. We do on a rota, so fairly distributed across team too. Plus all recorded and auditable etc

Great to hear @NewcastleHosps endocrine surgeons @petertruran and @RamsinghJason are doing the highest volume of adrenal surgery in the UK! And offering pioneering approaches to patients. Fab work from fab colleagues đ
Great talk by @petertruran at the Northern Endocrine Regional Research and Audit Group @nerrag giving an update on adrenal surgery in the North East of England. âď¸ largest centre in UK âď¸ offering all approaches (robotic/lap/open/retro) âď¸ collaborative working across the NE

@DrLindaDykes Just in case anyone had any doubts, hanging out with RFK Jr should clear up what side of the line this guy's on.

@BenAllenGP These are called "predatory conferences". Once you've had one invite, you'll be on a list and end up with hundreds! I'm a nobody, and I get invites for presentations and publications daily into my junk folder - usually with some very tenuous link to a paper I published years ago
