not to be ~over dramatic~ but almost an entire generation of my family died before the age of 40 due to the repercussions of having their children and land stolen from them, so you telling me your family is INCONVENIENCED due to 3 weeks of rail blockades makes me pretty steamed.

hey canada, there are indigenous people still being coerced into sterilization here. many northern and rural people without access to abortions. trans people who are forced into infertility in order to transition. don’t be so proud today. it’s not a cute look.

as more graves at residential schools are confirmed, it’s important not to shy away from using the term genocide in professional and personal contexts. if talking about genocide makes you uncomfortable, it should. the fact that you have normalized it should disturb you more.

when someone dies, ndns take time off, stop and cancel everything, close offices. even with such mass death in north america settlers have kept everything open and operating, not taken a moment to grieve. just an example of very different worldviews at play.

it’s disingenuous if you wear an orange shirt on wednesday but don’t speak out about the fact that there are more indigenous children in care now than were ever in residential schools. this stuff isn’t in the past. you don’t get to wear your orange shirt one day and feel better.

how far removed from reality or working class life are people to assert that people are living the high life on $2000 a month or won’t want to go back to work? $2000 doesn’t even cover rent and utilities for a one-bedroom in cities like vancouver and toronto.
