The count down has started for the Finder Files's drop on @verse_works - I've been working with @neort_io on 8 new pieces that explore the computer desktop as an artistic medium in a more automated way than Macintosh Lab -

NEORT++ / A new way to see the digital world Established in Tokyo in 2022, NEORT++ is the digital gallery branch of NEORT, exploring new frontiers in artistic expression. They have curated exhibitions for artists such as @REAS, @takawo, @JanRobertLeegte, @exonemo, @MacTuitui, @lennyjpg, @kitasenjudesign, and @yehwanyensong. Bridging the online and offline worlds, and transforming screens into immersive experiences, NEORT++ is a space for experimentation, dialogue, and rethinking what digital art can be. NEORT++ is currently gearing up for BYOD² (Bring Your Own Data and Display), an exhibition running from February 8th-11th, themed around installing data into physical space. For this exhibition, artists were encouraged to submit their own data and displays, and a total of 500 works, submitted by over 145 artists were received. Throughout the duration of the exhibition, visitors will also be able to submit work, creating an unpredictable exhibition space which will constantly change throughout the exhibition period. Explore BYOD² via the link below, and keep an eye out for ‘File Finders’ by @emiliodotjp, live next week on Verse.

INTRODUCING Finder Files, by @emiliodotjp Presented by NEORT++ (@neort_io) This series of 8 code-based video works re-imagines something we take for granted: windows—those we open, close, and scroll through every day. ‘Finder Files’ turns the desktop into a gateway, a boundary, a mirror—revealing the aesthetics hidden in our digital habits. A continuation of emilio’s signature work, ‘Macintosh lab’, ‘Finder Files’ transforms the Mac OS desktop into an artistic medium. It challenges the notion of technology as neutral, exposing how interfaces shape our perception and memories. We interact with windows every day without thinking about them. ‘Finder Files’ forces us to stop and look, transforming these everyday actions into something poetic, abstract, and reflective. Presented at Shibuya PARCO in Tokyo as part of NEORT++’s BYOD² (Bring Your Own Data and Display) exhibition, ‘Finder Files’ will be on view Feb 8–11, 2025, alongside an open public exhibition at DIG SHIBUYA. BYOD² is an evolving space where artists and visitors contribute their own data and screens, creating an unpredictable, ever-changing environment. Finder Files: Coming soon to Verse
