It sounds blindingly obvious but don’t lose sight of this simple fact: When making a golf swing, there are two objectives 1. Make (good) contact with the ball 2. Send the ball to the target (consistently). It’s easy to get lost when searching for improvement. #golf

In and up, down and out, in and up… If the “baseline of the plane” is aimed at the target (think Ben Hogan’s pane of glass…), a ball struck with a descending blow will also be struck with an “in to out” path. #golf

To develop the skill of club face control, begin by reducing the length & speed of the stroke. Take the necessary time to educate the hands, be prepared to hit repeat many times over. Place emphasis on correct address alignments, contact and directional control. #golf

When the knees are allowed to change flex during the backswing, the torso is able to move more freely. However, for most, it’s desirable for the trail knee stop straightening as the lead arm passes horizontal; this is when transition begins. #golf #elsdongolf #dorsetgolfcoach

The weight transfer starts before the backswing ends. However, be sure to encourage the lower body to lead the way… The centre of the hips should sneak closer to the target sooner than the centre of the shoulders, until the lead hip is above the lead ankle. #golf
