He failed at Transport. He failed at Justice. He failed at Health. Now he is failing as First Minister. Humza has a track record of failure. Failing is what he's good at.
24 years ago tomorrow Labour leader John Smith died. In 1993
@jeremycorbyn
criticised Smith for 'failing to articulate the views of the mass of the people'. Labour under Smith's leadership were 20 points ahead in the polls. Corbyn's 2018 Labour is currently 4pts behind the Tories
Scottish Green MSP Ross Greer (age 27) earns £66,662. Outwith green and Yes campaign activism, the university drop-out, has never had a job in the real world.
One final thought...if any senior English politician had been photographed like this after Scotland's ignominious exit from the Euros..this no mark would have been first to squeal about it. Speaks volumes tho.
Nicola Sturgeon became First Minister on the 20th November 2014.Can anyone - who is not a member of her glee club - honestly say Scotland is a happier, healthier, better educated and more prosperous and united country seven years on?
The First Minister who could find time to send supportive messages to Janey Godley, struggles it would appear, to send get well soon messages to the Monarch. Telling.
'COP26: Nicola Sturgeon says continued oil and gas extraction is ‘wrong’.... are you listening in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and North east Scotland?.....
Gerald Brown,65, from Glasgow died after waiting 40 hours for an ambulance.The father-of-three's GP repeatedly warned 999 call handlers that the man's status was critical & branded the ambulance service as “third world medicine”. The Health Minister however can smile about it all
I was a Labour Party member for 28 years. In that time I was a constituency chair, party press officer, worked for Labour leader John Smith, and was a SPAD in a Labour govt. I worked and campaigned for

Disclosure: The Great Ferries Scandal...almost beyond belief. Any previous First Minister or deputy would have had to resign over such a complete fiasco.

The SNP have had the best part of 7 years to improve their economic case for indy since the indyref. Last week's fankle over pensions shows that no serious thought has taken place since 2014./
I have to say if the SNP do get their way and Scotland votes for separation, the stampede to the border and capital flight, will make the departures from Kabul airport look like a Sunday school picnic..
The SNP has been in power in Scotland since 2007. 13 years. It has become arrogant, complacent and now believes in power for power's sake. It is rotting from the head down.
The tragedy of devolution is that, thanks to the SNP it has purely become a vehicle to break-up the UK - and not what it was intended to do - to bring decision making on health, education, public services and the environment closer to Scots and by doing so build a better Scotland
20,000 Scotland fans descending on London in a pandemic. 3000 plus tickets for match. London Mayor says stay away if you don't have a ticket. Not a squeak from

- imagine if that was the other way around and the game was at Hampden....

Sturgeon's 'I detest Tories' comment is yet further confirmation, if it were needed, that Nicola Sturgeon isn't a very nice person. You can disagree fundamentally with others on politics but detestation of their politics plumbs the depths. What nationalism does to people.
Sturgeon seems to think it will be the UK govt who will block 'the democratic voice' of the Scottish Parliament on indyref2. Wrong. It will be Scots like me who will take her govt to the Supreme Court to test the legality of her referendum bill.
A reminder for UK broadcasters - there is no majority for Scottish independence. No polls suggest Scots want a second independence referendum anytime soon and no recent poll shows independence as the preferred option of the majority of Scots.

The sight today of Salmond and Sturgeon who have dedicated their lucrative political careers to breaking up the UK - going to London to take part in the accession ceremony makes the boke rise. So much for all the confected grievance and anti-London/UK anger.
Back in 2007-8 I worked for Wendy Alexander. I remember how nationalists like Nicola Sturgeon demanded her resignation and said her position was untenable, over a wrongly accepted leadership election donation of £950.
#SalmondInquiry
Nothing I have seen since they took power in 2007 convinces me that nationalism in its Scottish form, is anything but a divisive, intolerant, intellectually moribund political creed.
The Scottish Greens want to leave NATO as many Scottish nationalists do. Just as Finland and Sweden consider joining...there's a reason why the Finns and Swedes want to join.
In all seriousness, why is the wife of the First Minister, a Dundee councillor, not a Scottish govt Minister, having her photo taken in Bute House, the FM's Edinburgh residence - doing this?
'There are more boats in the CalMac fleet launched when Margaret Thatcher was prime minister than have been completed since the SNP came to power in 2007.' Alex Massie. The Sunday Times.
The Nicola Sturgeon we see on the tv is a creation of spin. From the marriage to the selfies, to the 'spontaneous' photo-ops..the faux honesty & sincerity in covid updates, all spin. All fake.
The party that can't build ferries; conduct a census; can't throw out sex pests; has elected politicians that brandish Seed of the Gael flags and oppose a woman's right to choose....wants a second independence referendum..they couldnt run a bath let alone a country.
It is just over 21 years since Scotland's first First Minister Donald Dewar died. Can anyone who is not a member of the Nicola cult imagine him speaking to journalists or opposition MSPs the way the current FM does?
@scotgov
@ScotGovFM
The independence rally today - health and the Scottish NHS is wholly devolved and the responsibility of Nicola Sturgeon's govt. If it has to be defended, it is from SNP failure.
So an SNP MSP can vote in a Canadian Federal election, but nats have an issue with Scots living in the rest of the UK or overseas voting in any future indyref..double standards...do as we say, not as we do.
Said it before and will say it again, the notion that no senior Nat - Sturgeon, Murrell, Swinney, Russell, Robertson etc knew about any alleged 'impropriety' by their former leader Salmond until 2017, is an insult to the intelligence of the Scottish public.
Aberdein, who helped to broker talks between Salmond and Sturgeon, alleges the government official asked him to change his story, as he prepared to make a press statement in January 2019 — warning him that not doing so could damage the official’s career.
Now that Nicola has decided that Scotland's future prosperity wont be based on oil and gas, maybe a nationalist cd tell me how existing pension, benefits and public services will be funded post independence? How will the new Scottish state be funded?
'Nicola Sturgeon kept Scotland in the dark over its first mass Covid outbreak against the advice of her health minister and the deputy chief medical officer — and a leading scientist says it potentially exposed more people to the virus.' The Sunday Times.
If the SNP did not respect the result of the 2014 independence referendum, why does anyone think they wd respect the result of a second if they failed again to secure a Yes result?
It's been a while....just a reminder Margaret Ferrier is still an MP. And no one in the Scottish Government has had to resign over the fall-out from the devolved govt's handling of sexual harassment allegations against Alex Salmond.
Nicola used to argue that the SNP would only pursue a second independence referendum if support for indy consistently polled 60%... it is nowhere near that. another empty pledge from people who keep moving the goalposts to suit their own narrow minority interest.
Sturgeon's response to not having print journos at launch today 'I've answered more questions from journalists in the last two years than any other politician in the UK' - 'answered' doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Certainly eyerolled to media questions more than any other
Hundreds of Scottish homes still without power for a second weekend .... but hey Nicola got her photie taken again today... so there's that...

"I don't have all of these figures right at the tip of my fingers right now."
Nicola Sturgeon is challenged over the transition costs of an independent Scotland.
Nicola Sturgeon wants credit for her eight hour appearance in front of the Salmond Inquiry - given only four MSPs on that committee were able to ask coherent and relevant questions, which she then proceeded to avoid answering - this is not the triumph she evidently thinks it is.
Interesting to hear Lorna Slater, the co-leader of the Scottish Greens talking about the 'irresponsibility' of lifting covid restrictions................
fascinating to watch Nicola Sturgeon paint the Fergusons ferry fiasco as some great triumph by her government - her relationship with reality is increasingly a tenuous one.
#fmqs
So Nicola Sturgeon will leave office with her party's membership plummeting and a party divided; successors disowning her leadership style and record in govt; two unfinished ferries; an NHS crumbling....I could go on...but hey, there's the baby box.

to attack the integrity of a parliamentary standards committee in the Holyrood chamber for party political ends, is an affront. She should be ashamed of her failure to intervene
Nicola Sturgeon is presumably the First Minister for the whole of Scotland. not just Govanhill - when did she last make a visit as FM to - Aberdeen, Stromness, Ayr, Inverness, Hawick, Perth, Tobermory, Lerwick, Kirkwall, Wick, Lossiemouth?
The Nat response to Sarah Smith is why the dream of indy will never happen. The hate and bile doesnt win over the undecided. It is a massive turn-off. It's built into yessers DNA. They can't dial it down.
Let this sink in, the Lord Advocate, who coincidentally sits in Nicola's cabinet, had to order a search of Leslie Evan's office to find documents on complaints against Alex Salmond not handed over by her office.

'Is there a Susan in the room. Or maybe a Suzie...Violet from the other side is saying not to worry, she is in a better place....and she's glad she signed over all her money to the SNP in her will..'
If Scottish public opinion is split 50-50 for and against independence - what right does the SNP have to force independence on the half of the Scottish population who don't want it?
Just a reminder, in the last 24 hrs, Russian state tv has threatened the UK with nuclear munitions and Nicola Sturgeon has said Scotland should get rid of nuclear weapons.
The mask slipped with Sturgeon's Kuenssberg 'detest Tories' comment this am. Anyone wondering why Sturgeon's legacy wont be bringing all Scots closer together, whatever their political affiliations, need look no further. A mis-step from a First Minister fast running out of road
Tells you something about Nicola Sturgeon's judgement that she thought Humza Yousaf was the appropriate person to make Health Minister in an ongoing pandemic.
A First Minister who can't remember to wear a face mask in case she misses a photo-op, doesn't have the right to dictate how I spend the festive period.
If he genuinely thinks he was a leader of a western democracy....I genuinely feel sorry for him. In reality, he was so out of his depth he couldn't lead his way out of a paper bag.
Let's just remember that in the 2014 independence referendum, Yes lost by 10 percentage points...it wasn't even close. The nationalists agreed to abide by the result. A result that was conclusive.They didnt..less than 24hrs elapsed before they were back in fantasyland.
Have said before - Sturgeon's time as First Minister should be judged on whether in that time - Scotland has become a healthier. more prosperous, better educated, better governed part of the UK. If it hasn't, as I believe, then she has failed.
Just been looking to see what coverage Nicola Sturgeon has had Stateside in the Washington Post and New York Times for her thoughts on abortion rights, climate change, NATO etc....Nada... not a single word. A near 7000 mile round trip for some selfies at taxpayers expense.
The Scottish 'Greens'. A reminder. Want to overthrow the Monarchy. Opposed to economic growth. Want to break up the UK. End UK oil & gas industry. Penalise car users and aviation industry. Reader: Nicola Sturgeon put them in government.
@MaggieChapman
@edbookfest
@BaillieGifford
Given your parliamentary pension is managed by Baillie Gifford, are you going to withdraw from the parliamentary pension scheme? Or will you be a complete hypocrite and do nothing about your Holyrood pension arrangements?
Nicola didn't know about Alex..Nicola didn't know about Derek ..Nicola didn't know about Patrick. They say ignorance is bliss. In this case, it's convenient.

The problem for Sturgeon is that the ferries fiasco is so symbolic of SNP failure - and it wont go away, as they are far from completed. The costs will continue to rise amd questions will continue to be asked. It is a monumental own goal - entirely on Sturgeon's watch.
In Sturgeon's Scotland on Sunday Dani Garavelli interview today she name checks Humza Yousaf as a possible successor as SNP leader. The Nats are clearly in more trouble than I thought...
@thesnp
Just a reminder. Lorna Slater earns £98, 045 for her Ministerial role. Likewise Scottish Green's co-leader Patrick Harvie. They are supported by a Private Secretary and an assistant PSec each - cost £179,676. The Green Party Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone earns £116, 759.
Panelbase for the Sunday Times predicted the SNP wd get 42% in the local elections. Survation said 44 then 41%, the SNP actually received 34.1% in first preference votes. If pollsters can be so far out with their predictions are they also overestimating support for independence?
