hey uhhhhh being made fun of for being a "fangirl" when I was younger, just because I vocally supported music, permanently damaged the way I see myself as a music industry professional even TODAY, you're not cool for making fun of little girls who are passionate send tweet
it's
#NationalNewJerseyDay
, the perfect opportunity to express that I dislike new jersey very much, but also that i will fucking fight anyone who talks shit about it
unpaid internships are a scam and getting “paid in experience” with no actual promise of a permanent job afterward is bullshit and automatically sets people who can afford to not get paid ahead of people who have to work to support themselves thank you for coming to my ted talk
my favorite thing to do at shows is walk around asking everyone for donations for the touring bands and see the look on their faces when i tell them i have a card swiper after they say they don’t have cash on them
watched a documentary about a theme park in the 80s in NJ that got shut down called action park
then realized that they just re-named it and shut down SOME rides and i spent my childhood going down a water slide that injured literal hundreds
idk how much more clear i can be about this. DO NOT USE FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY DURING EQIPMENT’S SET. there are signs hung at the door, and all around the venue. It makes me physically ill to the point where it could end our tour.
i’m 18 months seizure free as of a week ago, forgot to tweet about that because i’m busy doing the coolest thing i’ve ever done in my entire fucking life
the craving of live music that y’all are feeling rn is how a lot of disabled people feel *all the time* when live music isn’t made accessible to them. is that gonna be a conversation we’re ready to have after shows come back or
I hope that whenever shows do start to come back we continue to keep in mind accessibility. I have this gut feeling that despite the efforts weve made over the course of the pandemic, as soon as people see the concert all thats gonna matter is their experiences at the show, (1/?)
if people are actually somehow convinced by venues to stop moshing in the name of public health safety and there’s still strobes at these shows i’m going to lose my god damn mind.
Hey! Do YOU need someone to manage your merch & money on tour? Who has excellent communication skills and is gosh darn organized? Whose career & passion revolves around show safety? Who can make sure you get from point A to point B on time and alive? DO I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU
all the bands requiring mask and vax now but still using strobes are really showing their true colors on how they feel about the health of disabled people vs abled people huh
i wanna go on tour! I wanna teach venue staff seizure first aid! I want people with epilepsy around the country to feel safe at shows! i wanna meet them & tell them theyre not alone and their are people who feel consistently unsafe @ shows and other people dont even realize! yeah
please stop using “i don’t take up that much space in the van!” in posts trying to find tours!!! i am 5’10 and made of leg and i’m still damn good at my job!!! and if you’re a band hiring people based on their size please re-evaluate your fucking priorities!
to add to this: if u are in charge of lights at an equipment show and u flip on the strobes u will suffer one of two things: a) having to watch me seriously injure myself and have an ambulance called or b) me stopping the show to call u out and i will not be nice so u decide!
sorry for any inadvertent shade but: one might assume that live music as a medium/hobby would be safe for people with epilepsy to enjoy and yet so many artists make the conscious choice that it shouldn't be. wish it wasn't so!
there’s this 10 year old kid who’s dad is a regular at howard’s and he takes pictures of live bands sometimes, i got them media passes to fx this year so he could shoot it and he was sitting on the bar during arcadia grey v ben quad and the look on his face was incredible
My Twitter friends:
Tomorrow, I will be sacrificing my time and potentially my physical health for the overall good of DIY. I put a lot of thought into this decision and it seems like the right thing to do.
I’m going to clean the Summit Shack bathroom.
Dear
@sxsw
,
can I please speak at your conference about how a lot of people don't really care about epilepsy awareness in live music, and that people should care and here's HOW they can care, and also about how I have epilepsy and it's The Worst at shows
Sincerely,
Ellie Hart
just walked out of my last day at a taxing job and i’m terrified
but i’m really digging the fact that when people ask what i’m up to nowadays, my primary answer is “I run a nonprofit about epilepsy awareness in music that I started”
follow your dreams 2k19

don’t laugh at young kids for covering cliche songs because they’re just learning and doing their best to find their paths as musicians stop being mean send tweet
just agreed to go on a date with someone who has cancelled on me twice before. i told him that if he cancels on me again he owes me $10 and his response was "fair enough" so yeah I'm kinda hoping he cancels

driving home from my last tour this year and thinkin about 2019. this year i:
-worked 123 shows
-went to 34 states
-traveled over 20,000 miles
-threw a festival in my hometown
-toured with 19 bands
-met some of my best friends
it’s been a good one :)
my whole body hurts
thank you so much to the entire
@SummitShack
team and to all the bands who played & friends i got to see
also thank all of you for coming & having a good time and being respectful and helpful to the Howard’s crew :)
lukewarm take: just dropping in to say that it’s important for venues and promoters to put in the effort to make shows accessible without a person with a disability having to ask for accommodations! here’s why:
alt account release show last night broke howard’s club h lmao
ps if you were the people who put the literal concrete from the bathroom floor in toilet tanks, effectively breaking our entire women’s bathroom, absolutely and unequivocally fuck you
lmao fauxchella memories are now slowly coming back to me
last night i got really stressed out bartending and had to take an immediate lap around the building and i walked into the parking lot and yelled “I KNOW ONE OF YOU HAS A VAPE I NEED TO HIT IT” kitty foreman style lol
hey music friends: you should hang these signs at your shows (if you want to you don't have to it's all good just tryna spread some safety/awareness n stuff)
((and also learn more at ))
therapy: expensive, hard to get into, terrifying
listening to Hard Feelings (2017) by Future Teens: free, comforting, often references online dating, mom won’t even ask you why you’re crying bc she’s heard the record so many times
finished doing my makeup in the studio while mover shaker is rehearsing so i got bored and took the hottest photo of myself i’ve ever taken. doors in 3 hours
