You know you’re a resp nerd when Med Eng bring the bird back after 3 months, fully fixed and shiny, and you jump up with a little squeal and jig when they walk onto the ward😂

This reminded me of ringing my mum in tears because I’d forgotten my R.E book & was threatened with detention if I forgot it again. Teacher let me off after a telling off. Got home that night, the book had been in my bag all along. ADHD problems 😂
@drjenwolkin
I sat down to do some work yesterday but then the washing finished so I moved it to the dryer &went to get the basket to fold it but it already had clothes in so I had to move them and then my drawers were full so I emptied them all and then re-sorted my sock drawers & hoovered😂
@dr_musgrave
@trentconsultant
Too sensitive a topic? You mean you got called out. If that patient had read your tweet they would know it was about them. Ridiculously Unprofessional as a doctor and unkind as a human. Do better.
@DrBenLovell
I know from a few peoples experience with ADHD and other neurodivergence it can be v uncomfortable on camera if you’re super fidgety etc, as well as being self conscious about this you end up constantly checking yourself on the camera and not actually listening to the teaching
@EmergMedDr
A comprehensive training and support package provided, but it’s for those needing support/nursing care…. but the maximum hosts will need to do is tea and a chat?
@BlondeHistorian

I feel like my grandparents doing a “people nowadays” but I honestly can’t believe how many of these I’ve read about. How do people even remotely think this is acceptable, I thought every living person knew to not distract a working dog 😫
V pleased to be able to advertise this after a lot of hard work from many fab colleagues! Tracheostomised pt’s with SCI webinar. Free to attend, Tuesday 14th May, great speakers planned. Register

This morning we welcomed all our new Physiotherapy starters to the Trust and introduced them to the updated preceptorship & induction programme (as well as to each other). Some good conversation and hopefully a positive experience to come, welcome to qualified life!🥳

They also aren’t the realistic portrayal they claim to be. Still a lot staged for them like all the welfare checks on ambulance and conversations that only happen for the cameras

I turned around at the front door and delayed leaving for work by 90 seconds yesterday to open number 12 and find there was no chocolate in it. “Scan the QR code to see why” sorry I can’t see my phone through my tears

Cough assist set up/individualised treatment teaching session with the Band 5 physios & a couple of students this afternoon. Including case studies to work through in groups & homemade flashcards as a present from me to keep forever😂🤓 Thanks for having me!🤩
@SecretPhysician
Whilst the underlying issue is replacement of doctors, can we please not align trainee ACP’s with med students. They are already qualified HCP’s with years of experience now training for an advanced role. Not appropriate to replace cons, but on no par with med students!
A patient said to me today “I’m a, what’s it called, a container”. She meant a (CO2) retainer. It gave us both a good laugh, I’ve chuckled everytime I’ve thought about it since and, sometimes, it’s those little moments that help you through the day. ☺️

I was approached via LinkedIn for my current job, may not have seen the vacancy otherwise as I wasn’t actively looking but really was my “dream sort of job”. So far, best thing to happen to me. Worth keeping LinkedIn even if it offers 1 opportunity in 10 years, never know!
Bloody brilliant session from
@CharliRobertson
about neurodivergence and EDI.
Don’t underestimate us!!! Neurodivergence is not a problem, we can be an asset if you can allow us to be our authentic selves, use our strengths and treat us as individuals 🥹🙌🏻

Whatever the outcome, 5 years for these things to get to an outcome point is an absolute disgrace. The system needs a total shake up, the effect on everyone’s mental health for such a long period must be awful

Jeez Twitter really has just turned into a pit of anonymous healthcare professional accounts throwing bullying or derogatory comments at others. Just stop it

So why change things at all? This consultation is only about the base colour of a new uniform of scrubs, no option to reject the idea completely. We have our professional identity already in tunics/polos, they look smart, why the change?!
Not everyone will love phlegm but it’s a privilege to help support other physios to at least become confident and competent managing acute respiratory patients and any thank yous feel extra special🥰

More positive feedback from interview candidates today re giving them 15 mins alone with the planned questions printed to prep/make notes/prompts etc prior to interview start 🥰

@DrAnnieHickox
ADHD makes me a better driver because so many things going on, I stay focussed! Check mirror every few secs, guess what people might do next and avoid their hazard, environment change every few seconds. I await the day the world doesn’t assume ADHD means lazy and physically hyper
@errjustsaying
@JolyonMaugham
How they expecting people in full time work (which some will be at 18), to also volunteer a weekend a month and maintain some vague work life balance?! More likely this will decrease numbers in full time employment
Today we facilitated a v special visitor
@RespHighCare
for a pt who can’t leave the ward. Their dog🐶who they’d not seen for ~4 months. w/physio support for UL, achieved long awaited head stroke & rolling ball off lap. No📸to protect confidentiality but be assured,it was lovely🥰
It’s been SUCH a joy having Tom on

Depends on your own interpretation but if you find it offensive then make those boundaries clear, because it’s not a case of ‘Never in a hospital’ One of my colleagues often refers to us as “my girls”. It’s not offensive at all, it’s always a genuine friendly intention.
Elderly patient today asked me if I had a boyfriend joining my movie night tonight.
“No no, just me and the dog”
“What?! No boyfriend at all on the scene?”
“No, the dog does as he’s told, unlike a boyfriend”
“Oh what a very true point, you’re exactly right”😂😂
Pleasure to help moderate MSc Respiratory vivas today

Yes and no🙈Respiratory physio- Love the resp physio especially when it’s acute, time critical and you see immediate improvements. Buuuuut then you have to sit and concentrate on writing notes after without forgetting stuff😵💫😂
@drlindalouise
This is honestly one of the most awful threads I’ve ever seen. Go and educate yourself about students with ADHD, autistic students etc. Hopefully they get a more compassionate and accepting teacher who won’t refuse all reasonable adjustments and ruin their school experience
Chester marathon done🙌🏻 sub 5 hours, £500 raised for

and I’m a little sun kissed as a result! Best support team and personal chauffeur I could have asked for, and I found us a cute little Italian overlooking the river for tonight 💞
Finally home after a fab 2 days in Sheffield for

So many ideas to consider for the future but best of all, being able to catch up with old colleagues, friends & meet new ones too🥰

Only as a physio would a patient call you Miss Trunchbull at the start of the treatment session but the “sweetest sweetest young lady” by the end of it😂🤭
Signing out for the 4 day break, time for brain space, processing of the last few weeks, and 36 hours to find my Christmas spirit😬Merry Christmas everyone, from Reindeer 1 & Reindeer 2🎄
@physiotalk
Part of the root of this issue is staff wellbeing. Burnt out staff don’t have the mental reserve to take back to back students, trial new placement models etc. Trusts/depts looking after staff, supporting them & focusing on retention will help.
#physiotalk
Little field trip to the Community Care Hub this afternoon to do an IST for my lovely colleagues! The facility is looking great and already some fab patient progress stories from the Therapists 😍
On my penultimate day at work, a very poorly patient wrote on their whiteboard to me “thank you so so much xxxx” and these are the little things I’ll remember forever 🥹

Stop making it about student loans. AHPs are leaving because working conditions are dire, caseloads are totally unmanageable and there’s no support. Tackle the actual problems
@DrSdeG
Same con as Neurofen “period pain” vs “migraine pain” and Otrivine Blocked nose relief, congestion relief, sinusitis relief. All of which are exactly the same ingredients at exactly the same volumes working exactly the same but being sold at different prices
I’ve never been an artist, so lots of Google images put together on a word document, hours of colouring in, and a little MDT/EHCU personalisation… and my little design won the High Care Christmas art competition 🥳🥹
Finishing the week with a
@RespHighCare
patient trip outside followed by a fabulous rehab session using improving UL function along with facilitation to allow prayer and identification of a new, super meaningful patient goal🥰💙

Having recently moved Trusts, the ‘small’ things I’ve so far noticed that help culture of support/value
- Staff gym on sites, £6/month &open 24/7
- Canteen meals extremely good value&quality
- Ability to pre-order meals to take home for eve/family
@SkylarTatro95
Yep mine takes a mouthful out, walks over to my rug, drops it all on there and then eats it. He especially likes to do it just after I’ve hoovered and does not give a single care in the world 🤣

Because there’s a difference between a nurse consultant and a Consultant Dr. And 2 years is as a qualified ACP, add on the 15+ years as a qualified nurse prior to ACP training….
